CA MT WORK COMP QUESTION - bentfingers

Thanks in advance. Has any California Medquist MT ever had carpal tunnel diagnosis and had the insurance company ask you to give them more information about the "nature" of your injury, as in they want an explanation if I think it is work injury, car accident, or other? I hate to lie, but it is pretty obvious I have it from typing. Also, if I said it is from work, they refuse to pay the neurologist who gave diagnosis. I pay into Worker's Comp in California, it is deducted from payroll, but company is in Tennessee. So, where would would one go to see an industrial doc at an industrial clinic? One question leads to another and another....

I tore my rotator cuff when I slipped on black ice in VA while on an assignment there. I was walking out to the parking lot at the hotel and had a co-worker with me so there was no question as to whether or not it was work related as we were walking out to go to work.

My case was handled by an ins. adjuster in California. They had to go by California law since I was a Calif. worker. Calif law states you have to go to the workman's comp carrier's doctor for one month, after which you can request to switch to a doctor of your choice. So if you went to your own doc (neurologist) and got the diagnosis that is why they are saying they will not pay the bill.

You should be given the workman's comp carrier contact info from HR at MedQuist. As far as proving it was definitely from your job, that may be harder. Since you work from home I am sure they will say it is your responsibility to make sure your work station is set up with the proper ergonomics, etc. I had carpel tunnel surgery about 16 years ago but I was a Kaiser employee and had my surgery there so it was not an issue. Kaiser is self insured for workman's comp so there is no outside source involved.

Bottom line, contact HR and start the process through their channels and their requirements. Their workman's comp carrier will have a list of approved docs you can go to. I was fortunate the doc I wanted to go to was on their list so I didn't have to play around for a month with another doc. If you live in SoCal email me and I can give you the contact info for the group I went to and you can request to go to them. They are the team surgeons for the Angels and they accept only workman's comp cases.

I always considered myself an average transcriptionist. On my platform I average about 150 LPH and very rarely do I go over 10% to QC and QA is usually in the 99.5% range. Since it is obvious the new comp plan isn't done maybe we could give them help and point in the right direction. I would love to hear what everyone thinks, good or bad. has anyone had no post audit reports for the week under the new comp plan? this is my first week of coming across this problem - there were 2 post audits during the week in FIESA, but they were for reports the previous week and I received no PA scores for the week - I'm assuming this puts me in the 0.08000 category for 0%-99% whereas normally getting 100% and this is making a HUGE diff in hourly rate - there needs to be something in place where we have to receive at least 1 PA sc ...

I haven't had a single report audited until today...I had 5 reports audited, all 100%. The very next one knocked my score down to 98.9 (the report was only 9 lines). I'm just wondering if they were going to audit until they found something to knock me down, or if that was indeed a random audit?
