work load for IMedX? - concerned

Anyone know what happened to the work load for IMedX? Should I be looking for another position?

Most likely, EHRs. As of January 1, 2015, hospitals are fined for not utilizing them when they can under Obamacare. It's just going to get worse. I dread this summer - work is always super-slow anyway.

I am not up on any National Health Care mandate for a January 1 deadline for EHR. That could be so. But EHR is not speech recognition. It is just EHR. For example, I do an account where I transcribe traditional voice files and then cut-and-paste the work into the clinic's EHR.

Your account isn't using Epic, is it? Epic has templated reports, so the doctors just type in the info themselves. The only dictation done is that info that can't be templated.

I always run out of work on my primary. I thought my secondary account was lost but was told we did not lose that account but there is never any work on that. Asked to get another backup and have not been gotten back to yet. I have a second job and am thinking it may be time to let go of this one. I don't even know why I am hanging on any longer. I don't even get enough lines to make the incentive any longer.

with the primary and secondary accounts. I don't even ask for a backup anymore and just get what I can on the primary, which doesn't start flowing until the late evening unfortunately (I like working during the day, as I'm more productive then). I will be leaving soon myself because it's not even worth it. They're so busy trying to impress us with the changes being made in Exponent, but if we don't have any work, who cares at this point?

I'm also getting tired of getting the email - about making up deficits.

I work a schedule for a reason. I shouldn't have to constantly rearrange my schedule because of no work. Does anyone know when you put in your 2 weeks, do they let you go right away or do you finish out the 2 weeks.

Imedx keeps acting like WE have done something wrong when there are deficits in production; when they have to pay minimum wage adjustments, etc. They even said in order to get minimum wage you have to first meet their production requirement lines per hours--with what work? And, why in the He__ would you need minimum wage adjustments if work was provided to make production! Imedx, GIVE US OUR WORK BACK or leave us alone about production deficits, minimum wage adjustments, working our set schedules, flexing, not flexing, etc. BIH

Imedx should also stop sending everything through their speech engine while we sit and wait for work presented in these junk drafts-like they are not already ripping us off enough already. We would have the work done in the time it takes for them to send it through the wreck of speech and to a much higher standard than that crap ever could.

My shift was during the day, but volume only started growing in late evening and night. I was absolutely unable to work 3rd shift, so they threw me out like evening trash. My supervisor, whom I had before the merger, was awesome, but the IMedX bean-counters only care about quotas and money. Forget the MTs who make that money for them. We're only numbers in a computer to them.

What kind of accounts are these? - ??

Are they government? VA? A lot of those are converting to front-end SR right now along with point-and-click.

Seriously, even if you decide to find a different MT job, you really, really, really need to train to do something else.

I also work here, and both of my accounts are completely empty, until later in the afternoon, when reports start trickling in. This is definitely not normal. I basically "babysit" my computer all day. I'm not sure why I haven't jumped ship yet, but it's probably because I don't know where to jump.

To the person that mentioned government VA accounts and we need more training -- no, these are acute care accounts. As a CMT, I had been doing acute care for 20+ years for a large hospital system, until we were outsourced. I don't believe training is the issue. Please don't make assumptions. We just don't have any work.

I think they mean training outside of the medical transcription field. I, myself, am considering going back and working on my master's in order to get out of this industry. The offshoring, the pay, the degrading treatment by management are not worth it to stay.

I definitely agree about finding a new profession, I just don't know where to go from here. Thankfully, my children are in college. I'm grateful for the opportunity being an MT has given me to be able to stay at home with them while they were young. I guess it's time to "re-invent" myself...I just have no idea what else I'd like to do. I like working at home. I haven't forgotten how awful it was to deal with all the office drama when I worked in a doctor's office many many years ago. I don't think I want to deal with that again. I'm older now and definitely not as nice LOL

You have no work now because the clients are doing much of their own work using templates and front-end SR. We are one of those clients. We send less and less every day.

Please wake up, smell the coffee, and get out of MT!

I would love to train for something else but what? I too have been working at home for so many years I don't know if I could go back into an office and the only training I have is MT work....I just don't know where to go next.

You are the only person who can direct your life.

Sitting there moaning that you "just don't know where to go next" is passive behavior.

Read the boards, research other careers, find out what you need to know. If you can't do even that, definitely don't go into coding because you won't have the initiative it takes to keep up.

I've been looking at community college websites. They can help direct you into a different career. Some even have a questionnaire type thing that gives you suggestions based on your answers. I can't do much about it right now, have to get my ducks in a row, but that is my plan.

They are just not delegating the work adequately. This is my biggest pet peeve of all time. There will be several thousand jobs in my region and my accounts run out...and then I sit...and wait...and nothing. They say change your hours, well guess what? I already work mostly 2nd shift. I tried to get DocQScribe to load from the DocQManage page for over an hour and finally had to send in a ticket. Is anyone else having this kind of trouble with the system. It showed a green light on DEP. This is getting rediculous. I could not work my scheduled shift on Sunday because there were no jobs available (but incentive stayed in place). Finally quit. Except for leaving MM I have never felt such a load taken off my shoulders. I am going to a hospital system where historically they do not treat people like robots, or slaves. I was going to try to hang on here, by hermiting (do my job and not look at e mails, etc) but decided to try to get out and with a lot of job hunting it worked. I still cannot believe how much pressure has lifted. Oddly I no longer feel depressed. I guess now I know what was causing my sadness... I am not say ...

No one on this board seems to give specifics when they get canned from IMEDX. So my question is this: Can each person who got laid off/fired let us know more details. Were you PT or full time, did they call or did they email, did you have options, or just firing. How many lines did you do per day. Always the same old song and dance. The subject of MTs needing more pay per line comes up, and what does the speaker do? Redirect the focus on all the added "upgrades" to their software they plan to buy (probably for hundreds of thousands of dollars) to "help us be more productive". Got news for them. You can only go SO fast. There IS a limit. And after all the emphasis on accountability and accuracy, do they not see that speed just increases errors ...

Am I the only one who runs out of work? I find it very hard at night to keep going with the dreaded no work available. At least during the day, you can clean house, email, pick up the telephone, etc. During the night, you are limited to surfing and staring! Then I am too sleep deprived to pull extra hours to make up for missed line counts. I am doing third shift for the extra incentitive but it doesn't work in my favor if I run out of work! Any ideas? I am wondering if a certain North region is low on work too, specifically the one whose CCM lives in the same region as most of the accounts. I just got a new laptop and I installed express scribe, which I use on my desktop, and could not load any wav files on the laptop. I did windows updates and that seemed to fix the problem, the files that day I was able to play. A file that came in today I am unable to play though, but still can play the other files from Friday. They are all wav files and on my desktop I can play them all, just not my laptop. Does anybody know what could possibly be going on here? Thanks for all the hel ...

Hello, I am finally getting my Dr. to move into the 20th century. Have a new Phillips 9600 digital recorder, new foot pedal and headset and downloaded Express Scribe. ExpressScribe will not play any files I try and transfer. I get an error telling me I need to go to their website and get a component file for dss.322.exs yes it says dss.322 not dss.32 LOL THere is NO such file there. Anybody have any suggestions?? I really dont want to have to pay like 30 b ...
