any new information about TTS? - looking for work

Hi, I am speaking with TTS about a job. The thing that I am concerned about is they said in their introduction that,

"Production time is tracked off the technology system and monitors the time you are actually in the document working (hands on the keyboard or foot on the pedal). If you are idle in excess of 4 minutes the time stops tracking. You must remain actively working. If you are researching etc, give it 3 minutes."

I am assuming this means that you if you get your line count in for the day and you do it in less than 8 hours you have to continue working the full 8? Is that correct?

Any information, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

And it's ashame too, as a lot of these transcription programs (like EditScript that TTS uses) is built for speed. You may easily get your lines in, but it may only take you 5-1/2 hours "actually" do it. If you are an employee, they want 7-1/2 to 8 hours of "actual" transcription time in order for you to obtain benefits. I have been doing this for a while and still cannot get my required lines with the required time. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue or not. .but it really makes me miss being an IC!!!

Personally, I wouldn't work for TTS because of their low pay scale. It's just not worth it to work 8 hours a day for minimum wage. I could do that at Wal-Mart or the local burger joint.

But most companies that use their own platforms have the ability to track the time when you're actively working (fingers working the keyboard and/or foot on the pedal). So if I was considering taking a job at TTS, this probably wouldn't be a deal breaker only because they all pretty much do this.

And most of them expect you to be actively working for at least 7-1/2 hours, leaving that other 1/2 hour for other job duties (reading email, etc.) Their minimum line counts are only what they expect as a minimum for 8 hours of work. But they do expect you to work your full 8 hours regardless of when you reach that line count.

but your treated worse than an employee. I have had "actual" employee status jobs where I was left alone. This does not happen. Just try going to the bathroom, the phone calls start. Most bizarre job I have ever had. This was abou six months ago but I doubt it has changed.
