any companies that let you work as needed? - dawn

I don't know of any - that I can think of

Finding a company these days who don't want set hours for even an IC is getting hard to come by. Sorry I couldn't be more help. I have found a couple of companies that send you work every morning and it is due back the next morning and that is about as close as I have ever seen to what you are looking for.
your needs or theirs? - Ima MT

The question is absurd, IMO.
I don't think it's an - absurd question

as you so eloquently put it. I'm sure there is a need for p.r.n. work, it is just a matter of finding it. The way to find it is to ask if anyone else knows of any company that hires that way. There was a post on the job board this weekend for some help for this weekend. I would classify that as p.r.n. I just don't know of any company that keeps someone on a stand by basis for p.r.n. I'm sure some do though. The only way to find out is to ask. The way this board goes sometimes though you might (usually) get your head bit off for asking a question. Why waste your time in replying if you are going to be snotty and think it is absurd?
That was just nasty.
love this - Ima MT

You spent all that time whining, talk about waste!!
But seriously, is this HER feel like it or a companies feel like it?
The question struck me as absurd because you can't really tell if it's when she wants to work or not and if it is, well that's just absurd.
You are a waste of time. - Your opinion is absurd.

Why not pass it by if you think it is absurd instead of ASSUMING she meant when she wants to work.
A lot of companies may be looking for p.r.n. workers, you don't know that. All you know is that you want to be quick to call someone lazy. You are absurd!!!!!
Even if it was her wanting to work p.r.n. - sm

What difference does that make if she is an IC? I have a small MTSO that I do p.r.n. work for as the company gets overwhelmed. I either agree or do not agree, but it never stops her from contacting me when she needs the help.
Sometimes even if I get a reply from a company that they have filled the position I have applied for, I will send a response that if and when they need overflow help or vacation, illness, coverage, to let me know. I am an IC - it is all piece work as an IC.
'MT know it all' is that U?? - something in the air, what can I say?

As If I Needed More Proof May 21, 2010You know, we hear tales, hope they're not true, but now I believe that the evil Q is intentionally sabotaging our work!
I've been on 100% QA for failing my audit. Yesterday I was being audited again, was aware of it and was working e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y carefully, very conscious and aware of everything I was doing. My production was down a bit, but my accuracy was spot on!
As we all know, they audit 5 reports and average out the score. My accuracy was 9 ...

Mentor Needed Feb 23, 2011I am an MT student of At-Home Professions with a course completion of 76%, and have landed a temporary job with my primary care physician. The job entails transcribing 2,000 patient files for her clients as she closes her practice. I have been told the files will be relatively simple. However, being less than a Newbie I feel I need support and have been told mentoring is a standard practice in the medical transcription profession.
