Transcend - Any good feedback? - shmommy

Just wondering if anyone who works for Transcend currently has any good things to say about them. I've seen all the bad posts on the board, so just wondering if there is any good to be said or anyone who works for them who is happy to work there. I know they have the $900/pay period instead of production limit and editing work. I was interviewed by them and I would be getting more pay per line for both typing and editing and compared to my current situation of having no work most of the days I type I was told I would be on a domestic account with plenty of work. While the $900 minimum and how to do that with editing are a little less flattering to me, the promise of having work at all is very nice. I'm not new to MT either. I've been doing this for over 12 years, just haven't found a job who will pay me what I think I deserve for time of service and quality and would like to just have at least 50%-75% work, not the current 30% work available I have been getting.

[ In Reply To ..]I worked for transcend for 23 months and on May 1, 2010 I was rushed to the ER and underwent two major surgeries, contracted MRSA and was off work until August. When I was able to go back to work they told me they had hired someone else. not once did ANYONE call me to see how I was doing, etc. then a few weeks later I tried to submit a claim to my disability insurance (through transcend) and was told that due to the IDIOT who does the insurance that the forms had not been sent in (from 6/09) and I had NO insurance. Still fighting this but the bottom line is that the company is a bunch of non-caring idiots including my team leader who did not even have my programs on her computer to cover when I was ill. Bottom line, if you like working for idiots and people who could not care less about you...then transcend is your company!!!

You'll never know which end of that spectrum you might land on unless you give it a shot.

[ In Reply To ..]I actually like my job. I'm not a suit (anyone who likes Transcend is usually accused of being management). I think they are a stable company and in this economy, that's a huge plus. Pay is on time all the time and I usually have more than enough work to keep me busy.

Alice...the same thing happened to me it is the disability I paid for (longterm) for over 2 years...when I got ill and it came time to submit my claim...denied!!! of course...I have been fighting this even with an attorney and it seems that they took my premiums, transcend IDIOTS!!! did not send in the paperwork and now they say I have NO disability insurance and just an OH well!!! Well, everyone who works for transcend and carries the insurance through unum better make sure the idiots in the benefits actually sent in the paperwork or you will find yourself on food stamps like me...great way to treat someone who never missed a day of work until deathly ill in over two years!!! I would not wish what I have gone through due to transcend's incompetence on even my worst enemy...bottom line....if you pay for insurance through transcend...make sure you actually have it!!!

I did strictly straight typing (pathology) worked everyday I was supposed to...NEVER off for doc appt etc as the IDIOT teamleader did not even have a backup for me and my two accounts. The only time I was off was for computer/software issues...They have absolutely NO feelings for employees except to make the owners/managers rich...

[ In Reply To ..]I have worked for Transcend for a little over 6 months. During the holidays the work was a little slow, but other than that I have been very happy. Have great communication with my team. I have worked for other MTSO's, and so far this is my favorite. Love the platform. I do editing and straight typing though, and do not have a problem getting my lines in.
A lot of posts on Transcend are negative, but I think it's all about the team that you get on. If you have good leadership it works out, if you don't, sounds like it's not so nice. I would def give it a try though!

[ In Reply To ..]I've been at Transcend for a little over 10 months. I like my accounts and am hardly ever out of work. Justsayin, I also have a great team lead. I do just straight typing which is what I prefer. I've never had a problem needing time off for appointments.

[ In Reply To ..]Thanks to all who replied. While I feel for anyone who had a bad experience, I can honestly say after working for other companies any company wants to make money. If you find one who says they don't want to get rich or make money, then they're lying. On the other hand, I do feel for your insurance/appt. problems. I've worked for bad management before and even been a manager in a local setting before for one. I, however, do not need benefits currently and just need to have more STEADY work. I can take a little downtime, but when it happens 5 days out of the week, I have to look into moving on! Thank you all again for being so honest and for your replies! :)

I got feedback on a report today, CRITICAL FEEDBACK. The doctor dictating was absolutely horrible, worse than horrible. I could not understand him, tried my hardest and before I uploaded it sent a note to QA asking for a sample of his work, explained that I could NOT UNDERSTAND HIM. I'm so happy! I got my audit, passed with flying colors and got an email from sup saying good work and keep it up! He also suggested that I submit for a raise since I've been consistent. I said I didn't know that we could, but apparently we can if we maintain that 98% average consistently for a certain amount of time.
