I am making more than that; been there over a year working on the Escription side. Please tell me if this is what you were offered or where you got your information.
cannot see them getting anyone but newbies - CTMT
[ In Reply To ..]
and are their newbies anymore in this country?
Far from new to MT, new to this company. - anon

Not newbie...offering to new hires. They have postings on this board and that is what they are offering. No increase--no seniority. All VR. Many hired for new account.
I have 10 years' experience....sm - Kindred

...I almost went to work with them with 10 years of experience. I liked that they were American owned and operated. They had a good program for training on E-scription. (Yes, I am one of the dinosaurs who has yet to gain experience in VR.) All the ladies I talked to (and 1 guy) were extremely nice. Also, apparently, they have a great PTO program.
I am in the midst of a family situation and have postponed my working with them for the time being, but hopefully after the first of the year there will be a position for me. I was going to be third shift, so a little bonus there. They also have 12-hour window if you ask.
Just my nickel's worth of info!
Nuance, Softscript, and TTS were my options. I was going to go with TTS.
Also Accentus was 1 of my choices. sm - Kindred

Opted for TTS. Just felt right for some reason.
Their straight typing pay is a slap in the face - Frazzled
[ In Reply To ..]
I was offered a job with TTS a few months ago and immediately turned it down once they emailed me the official job offer and I saw the line rate. Straight typing was 0.0675 cpl. You have GOT to be kidding! I almost fell out of my chair. How can anyone work for wages like that???? Talk about literally working for peanuts. What an absolute joke!
Absolutely right Frazzled. Not minimum wage. - joke
[ In Reply To ..]
A bad one at that...not even 0.0675. This is just 6 cents.
Mathematically challenged?...sm - Anon

Yes, 0.0675 per line for straight transcription is crummy, but if you can do 200 lines per hour, it amounts to $13.50 per hour (which is more than my state's minimum). Trouble is only about 5% of their work is straight typing. Their minimum LPH for straight is 125 and that would be $8.43 per hour; again above minimum wage. Their minimum is 250 LPH for editing which at 0.03 per line would be $7.50. Now that's pretty close to minumum wage in a lot of states. The thing is with this company, there is almost always plenty of work and you have the same 2 accounts for an extended period of time, so can crank out more lines than the minimum requirements because you are used to the dictators and account specs. Hey, rates are crummy at most all MTSOs, so I'm wondering why the TTS bashing? They also have pretty good PTO and their insurance is decent and accordable. I pay $220 a month for health and dental for myself. It is working out quite well for me. The only negative I think many don't like is strict adherence to your schedule, but if you follow the rules, do your job, and keep your head down, you can make out okay. It's not the kind of money I/we used to make (I made $19/hour in-house and paid nothing for health insurance), but we can't make the big money anymore, can we? Also, I'm not a suit, just a rational, thinking person who weighs the pros and cons and avoids wishful thinking. We can't go back to the old days. The future is here.

At TTS, insurance for 2 people is the same as the family plan. I was paying $660/month. One of the reasons why I went elsewhere.
Happy TTSer for 6 years! - Happy MT

I have been with TTS for the past 6 years. Yeah, they may not be paying more than other companies, but I have CONSISTENT work! It is nice to be own by Americans. The owner is very nice, and they are very involved, but I don't mind because I do my job. eScription accounts are busy. They are always asking for help and it is nice especially this time of year. I know this industry is shrinking but at least I have a job.
Im sorry, but 3cpl makes me sick to my stomach. - I just cant seem to wrap my
[ In Reply To ..]
head around the reason why anyone would work for that? Unless they are just bored and need something to do, because it certainly does not equate to supplemenal income let alone, livable wage.
Not to be funny, but do you even manage to gross $400 with those line rates?
It is not 3cpl for ICs - Happy MT

I am an IC and work 2nd shift so I make 4.5 cents per line. I edit about 400 lines per hour so, yes, I make money :)
Seeing the terms IC and shift in the same sentence - Boggles the brain
[ In Reply To ..]
No offense to you, the poster at all, just always makes me shake my head when a company hires an MT as an IC, then assigns them a shift with a differential.
IC doesn't mean work whenever you want - ABC
[ In Reply To ..]
Definition: An independent contractor is a natural person, business, or corporation that provides goods or services to another entity under terms specified in a contract or within a verbal agreement.
If you sign a contract to work a specific shift, that is what you are bound to. If you don't like it, you don't sign the contract and don't work. You're choice.
This isn't like the old days like when I used to bring the cassette tapes home with me to type at my leisure as long as I had the work done by the next day.
IC and employee status are for tax purposes only. IC does not give you a free pass for you to work whenever you want to work.
4.5 cents per line is a joke - katie
[ In Reply To ..]
3 cents is a joke, but 4.5 cents isn't much better. I can't believe how far transcription has sunk. I did this job for almost 18 years. I had to get out when it wasn't covering my bills. Sheesh, how much lower can they go?????? It's funny the labor department has gotten on their case. Is this even legal. How sad that people are accepting this kind of pay.

does that mean stuff that is up in the demographics, i.e., Patient name, Date of Service, etc.? Can EditScript even be set up to count that?

Kind of wondering if this last job posting on the jobs board might be associated with one of those "you pay us to find you a job" type of organization. I googled Medical Jobs Online and found nothing stating that are a legitimate MTSO :( ...
After 18 months of no problems, and flipping between 6 accounts with the most idiosynchratic site specs, on top of the most outmoded platform, suddenly I don't pass audit, taking off the same error 3 times against me. Their editors and auditors know less than the MTs they are judging; I caught them on 4 different errors. They treat you like toilet paper, so those 100 MTs they need (wonder why?) better change their designations to TPs! ...
That is unfair. They should just advertise under Nuance now. People might jump to the job thinking it is another company, and come to find out it is Nuance. This is false advertising. I surely wish Accentus would quit posting job openings. I get excited whenever I see a good job listing then I see it is Accentus/Nuance all over again. Sheesh. Thanks for listening to my little rant. ...
I am hopping on this in order to warn newer MTs DO NOT FALL FOR THIS, it is a SCAM! Don't get burned by this company---they are about as honest as a 3 dollar bill. Please search archives for info...there are a lot of scams out there now, just another joy of being an MT these days. ...
Just wanted to let everyone know that the above company, RADTRANS, is posting an open position on MT Jobs. Please think about this if you are considering applying. Check the archives and see what I mean. Have a great day everyone!! ...
then offshore it to India. They have an office already set up in India. I really think the management of this site should realize this is fully and completely a functioning Indian company, owned by Indians, staffed by Indians and transcribed by Indians. Americans are used to establish accounts here and then its outsourced. ...
Would it be such a problem to list all aspects, including pay, in the job ads? MTSOs, could you please not go on and on about how great you are and give us information we need so as not to waste your time and ours? Why make us jump through the hoops of resume, application, and testing. This is a very time consuming process, especially since we will apply to more than 1 job?
In addition to equipment needed, IC/employee, platform, shift, etc., what is your production requi ...
Where oh where do people find these straight typing jobs? If you don't want to share your company I completely understand, but could you possibly point me in the right direction?
Thanks so much!! ...
Or do I just need to bite the bullet and start doing VR? My job is straight typing 9-5 M-F! Perfect right? Not anymore. I'm an eTransplus employee and the big shot MQ bought them out, so I can either go to work for them or I can look at other jobs with other companies. I doubt there are any straight typing jobs left right? If so, they will probably switch over soon huh?
Would like to know if anyone is doing ok on VR with the company you're wit ...
It is insulting to all of us with the way that MT pay has gone down the drain, it is frustrating and aggravating to look for a "decent" job these days, trying to work out which companies will treat you fairly, which ones lie about their platforms, work, etc., and not only do these companies not want to pay us what we are worth but now I see that MANY companies are requiring the MT to have or "be willing" to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of equipment. If an employer can PROMISE IN ...
I tried entering my ID plus dep on the Fluency for Transcription page and it said my account was inactive. Okay, so I tried twice with Remedy to get it reactivated. Both times I got emails telling me it was working. Tried again and no luck. Am I on the right page, the one with the hideous orange splash, the same one we use to find our stats? Any help appreciated, I really don't want to have to call tech support if I don't have to. Do I even need to d ...
How can they ask you to work stated hours if you are an IC? I see this all the time. They want an employee, full time, but an IC. Don't understand all that. ...
these jobs are out there and this is along the norm. Don't - DO NOT - buy into the $30 or $45 an a/h baloney. They are ripping you off. Yes, I'm back on my soap box LOL. ...
According to the job posting this company is based in San Francisco. The stated pay rate averages $241.00 per month. If I were this company, I would embarrassed to advertise the pathetic pay they give their MTs in one of the most expensive cities in the country. If it weren't so tragic that there are desperate people out there looking for a job, it would be laughable. ...
This on the job board today:
"XXXX is looking for an experienced QA person to start immmediatly. We are also looking for MT's that have expereince in cardiology (esl), er and discharge summary experience."
Yes, I think that QA person does need to start "immediatly". ...
I noticed that posting and sent an email. Pretty sure they posted something similar before because my email had saved their address in it. Never heard back though. Does anyone remember this besides me? Did anyone get hired? Or a call? Or an interview? $2.50 a report, for anyone who has never been paid per report, is excellent! ...
I have a POSTER pet peeve.
When a comment or question is posted about a specific company, why is the original poster likely to never elaborate? Why are they wasting everyone’s time?
What is up with these hit-and-run posts? Someone makes an outrageous comment or asks a question implying something negative. Then when you answer and either ask for more information or ask the original poster a question, the original poster is long gone – never to be heard ...
Concerned about the posting from the Midwestern MT who said she had work to be done from TransTech and here we all are sitting and checking and no work. Wondering now about this new SWAT team thing. From what I was told that the 'beast of the business' is they worry about TAT because they have to take a cut in their portion of the line count wages, so they'd rather meet the TAT? And yes, we are all cross trained pretty much anyway, but they want lightening speed. ...
What is up with this? They have plenty of inside people to ASK if they want this work?? I don't get it. How about the old saying from companies that they "hire within first" because they treat the employees with respect since they have been there and are 'loyal.' So, many scraping for work and being exhausted by the demands of having to produce for pennies. Where is this job going? Where is the labor board? We only have this board. ...
Became even more excited when I read that it was owned by a former transcriptionist and then it hit, pay will start at 7-8 CPL, depending upon experience and oh, hey, all of our transcriptionists are ICs. What the heck???? Oh well, hopefully one of the 50 companies that I have applied with this week will contact me. Still beating that worn out path .... Good luck to anyone else that is looking! ...
I am new to MModal. I need to post 5 hours on one of my Sundays to work to see if anyone will cover those. My CCM said I needed to post on swapboard. I can get to swapboard but I don't see anything on there to click for posting. I have went through my paperwork and can't find anything other than what swapboard is for, not posting on it. Thanks in advance for your help! ...
