Hello, Does anyone know if TTS has been acquired by Nuance? TIA

I don't think so. I work for both separately. They do share an account though but that is because they use the Nuance platform so they made some sort of deal so they get part of one of their accounts

I had read that because of this, MTs are QA'd by both TTS and by Nuance, and sometimes by the client too. Is this correct? Are they also QA'd daily instead of weekly or monthly?

all 3, Nuance, TTS, and the client. You constantly get QA emails on audits. I think after you are off 90-day period you get audited by TTS every 3 months, but they are constantly watching your line counts and time "actively working" daily and you get statistics emails weekly I think.

Check UE laws in your state, MTS ... please do yourselves & your dear families this favor. Actively working .. on whose "time"? I am actively working, also, when I am here waiting for work on my set schedule, as well, or does that not count?

Be careful what you say when you know nothing of what you are talking about. You are not required to sit in front of your desk if there is no work. If you're out of work, it's your choice whether you want to come back and check or not. Of course you can take breaks, it's not a prison cell. No one is coming to "chain you to your desks" You don't need to bring your negative attitude into a conversation you know nothing about.

Not everyone is out to get you and not every employer is trying to cheat you. I've worked there for years and I am perfectly content. They leave me alone to work.

I cannot understand why any MT or prospective employee would agree to a PRE-HIRE "computer audit" as part of the testing process, (unless the applicant were in really dire financial straits).

The audits are done by an independent firm who is NOT on TTSs payroll ... their business is to spy, copy, etc. PC data. Just think of what precedent would be set if we were to allow this PRE-HIRE--they have access to your search history, family financial data, cookies, children's homework, just think of the possibilities if we agree to this.

Nevertheless, we MTs have always given the almighty MTSOs our thumb, after which they have taken the arm, so we have nobody else to blame except ourselves. What next? Pre-hire home audit??

TTS gets most of its work from Nuance- - sm

on the Escription side. They have some sort of a contract with Nuance and when Nuance needs help or gets a new account, they send the work to TTS. These accounts can come and go, some new accounts only put with TTS to train speech engine, then they are gone, some stay. There is some kind of an agreement with TTS and Nuance to send certain work to TTS, but Nuance has control of it.

Train their VR ... right ... we have it almost perfected to halfway justify cutting our pay in half ... then, instead of letting us work on it, just dumb it down to either send it to India OR to one of the big MTSOs (maybe for a tiny one-cent kickback).

Really people, this is like a game of gossip. You are getting upset over information someone is posting that you are only assuming is true. Anyone who knows anything about large facilities knows that they hire multiple MTSOs to do their work. Work types are divided.

Unfortunately, Nuance has taken over a lot of the MTSO....but note they then become Nuance, they usually don't keep their name correct? Just because they both work for the same facility does not mean Nuance owns them. Also, since Nuance owns Editscript, of course their name will also be on the QA.

If you want to get mad about stuff, get mad at your fellow MTs who give the rest of us a bad name. The one's who DON'T take their job seriously and treat it like a real job. I have worked hard to get family/friends to respect my work time as much as if I worked out of the house at a hospital. You sign a contract to work 8-5, you would be expected to work 8-5 at a hospital so why is it different from home? Do you think you could show up a half hour late every day and still have a job at a hospital? Highly unlikely.

You are absolutely right. We know no job is perfect. There will be things we love about it and things we can't stand about it. When I think back at all the places I've worked at, this scenario still holds true. (Hopefully there are more positives than negatives). There are a lot of good things said about these companies and then somebody comes along with the dirty negatives. Somewhere in between is the truth and that's where we need to take our chances and hope for the best. You need to show up every day and do what you need to do and hopefully all will work out in the end. That's how I look at it.

The last 2 posters are correct. TTS leaves me alone to do my work. TTS does their own QA; however on the account that is shared if the QA becomes too much for TTS then yes Nuance will do the QA but it comes back through TTS and they do the final audit. I work for both and the QA with TTS is great and they aren't breathing down my neck and I have very little communication with them unless I desire it. I have way more work then I can do and could work OT every day if I so desired. Unfortunately I am also with Nuance who I was with when I picked up the second job with TTS but by far TTS is much better company.

I can't wait to see who wins the war and which one is left standing. Two classic examples of money hungry, worthless management companies I have EVER worked at. I hope they BOTH wind up in the trash can bankrupt. I only wish MTs could band together and make that happen sooner rather than later. This is all just so senseless. Ruination of lives..... ...

Fiesa is the tool whereby they accomplish this without having to fire all but a few...because most MTs exposed to it quit in frustration first. IT IS THEIR PLAN AND WAS ALL ALONG. And THIS is the reason many of us still get on here and try to warn away anyone even considering hiring on. Please help spread this horror story around the industry! ...

According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

I thought they were 2 different services. Everyone is buying out everyone, so who knows. All the small companies have been merged I guess. I thought Nuance was out of New York and were the primary with VR. Maybe one has to keep up with the changes and be a member and pay the dues and go to the meetings with AAMT and be a CMT to keep up with the changes, even though you still get 4 cents. ...

Does anyone know why the ad says "No inquiries from overseas" when they obviously offshore the work? Anyone reading that would incorrectly assume they do not offshore. I was reading an article in the newspaper that a journalist was talking about a few days ago regarding the hospital outsourcing to the Web/Nuance, and the spokesperson for the hospital said in the article that the company only employs US MTs. ...
