Softscript - rate Support on a scale of 1-50? - "Support" department

Posted: Jan 15, 2011

How would you Softscripters rate Support on a scale of 1-50? Is it just me or would y'all think that after 8,000,000,000 occurrences of the same issue they would have figured it out and done something about it.

Last day of the pay period and they have spent hours ... I give them a 0. nm - SSMT

oh wow .. I'd forgotten about the "Support" department - starstruck

Mostly because there ISN'T one! SS's IT consists of 2.5 guys randomly roaming the streets, and if one of them sits down to have a Four Loko then you're in luck because they might check their iPhones and respond to your many calls for help. Or not. The tech aspect of SoftScript is the main reason this company isn't taken seriously in the industry. Too bad for them and us.

"Stop sending emails!" We have better things to do than help you work. LOL - Love, your SS Support Team

I've had my run-in's with this particular Qmanager before today, but it is interesting that her particular email was sent out right after I sent an email to support with quoted error messages.

I understand that they are getting a lot of emails... it is, after all, the last day of the pay period and we ACTUALLY have work, but is it really too much to ask of someone to tell us what we should do???

The server wasn't up in time for me to make up the job I lost and the days' worth of lines.

They wonder why we lose our employee "morale". Most of us could care less (our manager even said so). *scratching head* I wonder why that is.

I'm leaving this company as soon as I can. I've had enough of getting my butt chewed for asking questions. My so-called "production manager" can't even answer my emails anymore. I confronted her about an email that was out of line, and haven't heard from her since.

*ALSO* If anyone still works here or is considering it.... they will not allow you to take for the holidays within your first year (Thanksgiving OR Christmas)!!! Would have loved to know that when I was hired!!

What errors have you been getting? Are you still getting them today? How often have you gotten errors over the past 6 months?

How often do you lose jobs? Do you get paid for them?

EXACTLY, this is why the positive posts about SS are rare, not nonexistent but rare. The company could care less about the MTs. That is and has been WAY BEYOND obvious.

My so-called "production manager" can't even answer my emails anymore. I confronted her about an email that was out of line, and haven't heard from her since.

Would love to know what state the "production manager" is in. Do the production managers still get paid during the long periods of "no jobs available?" No response from SS management - ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING WINK WINK.

Server has been down for 7 hours now .. sad since today is the first day there is work. nm - LTMT

My 2 cents...for what it's worth - Simple_T

Well, in their defense, all of the calls and e-mails aren't helping one bit. In fact, I would have sent a message out from the get go to please not try logging in until further notice and to please not call as our man hours are needed to get back up and running.

It is true, though, that as far as system, SoftScript needs to upgrade and to DEFINITELY have a backup server. Time is money and this is costing them BIG, not to mention possible loss of accounts.

As for as support, only needed them on initial hire so really can't say, but that once they were very helpful and courteous. Perhaps there is only so much they can do with an antiquated system and, same as you, they deserve their time off and I am sure all hands are on deck for this and, no, they don't need the distractions. What good is it doing for MT's to keep calling and e-mailing, overloading the system.

Let us just keep our fingers crossed it is up soon! I, for one, will be on and transcribing when it does!!!

GOD BLESS

I agree to a certain extent. I didn't email the qmanager or support, but sm - LTMT

I did email my production manager so I could document yet another day where I could not work through no fault of my own. I'm not sure what good it does, but she encouraged me to document it. So far, I have been OOW for most of my shift for 2 days and for at least 1/2 of my shift the other days of the pay period. I have no idea who to "blame" for it all (perhaps myself for not giving up on them sooner), but I do know I cannot go on too much longer like this. It makes no sense to have a full-time obligation and commitment when they they do not return that same obligation and commitment to me. I have 2 part-time jobs (thank goodness), and my total line count for each of them is more than my line count with my full time job. That's just wrong. Again, I do not know the answers. I suppose it is up to me. I can keep listening to the promises of "we're working on it" and shut up and take the beating when I get one low check after another (plus being denied benefits), or I can move on.

If they get back up, I will be joining you in that transcription brigade. :-)

I guess I'm just trying to stay positive - Simple_T

in a career, indeed world, full of negatives though it is increasingly difficult with times being as they are.

The thing is, SS is my last resort. If things don't work out with them, I am done with the MT industry.

For 4 years I was never late on a mortage payment, now with 1 year left of payments (fixer upper), I am edging my way ever closer to foreclosure and I truly need for SS to be a good fit for me...and my wallet!

I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt for the time being, though I am a new hire and able to more easily hang on to my optimism than perhaps a SS old-timer.

My greatest fear right now is that they will start losing clients as downtime has been significant. Just curious as to if everyone is down, just certain accounts or just certain MTs.

The thing is, I am sure they are stressed beyond measure right now, higher ups included. I do, however, agree with you...work has been low and with their system I find myself slow and find it is all I can do to try to get minimum lines per hour, though I have till the end of the month to get there and am getting closer all the time, and I have had at least 6 hours a day since being hired a month ago.

I truly hope SS get things up and running and that work flow stays plentiful after this for us all. I just can't go through another MT company. All the MTSOs are the same anymore, and many far worse than SS who at least pays decent straight typing rate.

I find that they are all lacking in one form or another, and it seems that all are running low on work to try to keep TAT to a bare minimum. Still, even with the SS system, I am happier than I had been at MQ with my accounts and, although MQ's system rocked, their pay scale was the pits! Let's don't even talk about the management, nepotism, favoritism, and cherry-picking at Transcend.

Fingers crossed and prayers raised that things turn around this week and we start seeing some positives in SoftScript!
These companies are going the way of the steam train... - Hayseed

Stuff is falling apart and they aren't putting any more money into them to replace/upgrade them because they know it's the end of the line.

It's the same reason why MTs are forced to find old machines to run XP or older versions of Windows. The companies just don't want to pay for upgrading their software (very expensive) because it's simply not worth it.

Cheap so-and-so's.

Been with SS for a while. Never seen the "server" down this long. sm - SSOldie

This is really strange. The IT department is very, very good actually. Something is possibly up. Changes coming? Buy out? VR? Whatcha think?

It was down for close to 24 hours several months ago - starstruck

[ In Reply To ..]
It hasn't been down as long this time. I disagree that the IT department is good. In my interactions with the boys they have been polite, respectful, and apologetic. But those qualities don't necessarily mean that they are skilled systems analysts.

I hope you're wrong. I don't want to work for SoftQuist or SoftScend. :( nm - JMO

I see no one has mentioned that SS has plenty of work right now and offering overtime sm - no name

[ In Reply To ..]
People only want to fuss and put negative statements out there. All companies go through a dry period now and then. Anyway I thought I would mention it!

Probably because the reason it is available is because no one could work yesterday. sm - SSMT

[ In Reply To ..]
It is not all negative, but I lost an entire day's pay that was going in on this check. Yes, the OT is nice and yes, it is nice to have work, but I won't see it for 3 weeks and I have bills to pay now.

I'm the oddball - sm - Confuzzeled

[ In Reply To ..]
Somehow I managed to work my entire shift yesterday. I couldn't access the ADT or any sample reports, but otherwise things worked fine for me.

Unfortunately, I'm still on full QA and I guess they were bored and ripped me to shreds. LOL dictated: "The patient had an injection last week and does not need one this week." QA'd "The patient had an injection last week and does not need 1 this week." Really? C'mon now. Something I will never change, it not only looks ridiculous, but it's not even signifying a number. Sheesh.

Rant over. Happy typing to all doing OT!

workload - medtyp

[ In Reply To ..]
No work in my 2 accounts, and when they stick you somewhere else, it slows you down as you need to read over the AS and see what and what not to do.

This is maybe a dumb question, but how is the OT paid? Do they keep track sm - SSnewbie

[ In Reply To ..]
of the lines done off hours and you get lines and a half, or is it some kind of hourly pay? I hope it is not time and a half compared to the $8/hour for training ... $12/hour .. yeehaw.

I don''t call 2 solid months with little to no work a "dry period." sm - JMO

[ In Reply To ..]
And as to your great overtime windfall, people swarmed on that like starving dogs who had finally been given a meal and of course now it is gone because there wasn't that much work to begin with ...just no one able to do it for a day.

I'll say lots of positive things once I actually see something positive happen.
