They are a good company but running out of work soo much lately. That is the ONLY reason I would not recommend them.

I only had 1 decent day of work this week - running out consistently, but amazingly work appears on Fri/Sat. I am part-time - but it still is a pain in the butt. It did not use to be like this - don't know what is going on.

Work appears on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon because that is the days off scheduled for most people. We all are working one week-end day so therefore there is usually someone off Fri/Sat or Sun/Mon. I actually work a split days off and am off on Wed/Sat. So due more people being off during those 4 days, there will be more work of course - during the week pretty much it is full staff. Wednesday are usually kind of slow, thus why I scheduled my day off then. Would I definitely recommend someone work for them - all I can say is you just never know sometimes until you ACTUALLY go to work with a company how it is going... don't seem to be a lot of roses out there to pick any more (transcription wise at all), not just referring to companies. It is not what it used to be - 18 years experience talking. Maybe didn't help, but maybe it did. Everyone is different, so different strokes for different folks they say. Good luck wherever you chose to work!

I'm an editor, I'm pretty happy with it all in all. They don't bug you, not a lot of conferencing and you just do your lines and get paid. I have been running out of work the last couple weeks but I think it's because of spring break. It's picking up now. I split my week up, too, working one weekend day and being off on Wednesday, been doing that for years and I like it. I worked at MQ for 2 years and it's like I posted somewhere else, my best day at the Q is worse than my worst day at SS. I would recommend it, myself. The big draws are no VR and no outsourcing.
My friend says she is out of work all the time - Old School MT

I have never personally worked for Softscript, but I have a friend who does and she has been telling me over the past month or two that she is constantly running out of work. I find this to be amusing because according to her she says that their platform will automatically shut you down if you are inactive on your k-board for over 5 minutes. How in the world is that supposed to happen when you are out of work so much. I don't know if this is true or not, but according to her that is her main complaint.

I've never had that happen. I used to spend a lot of time in reports when I first started and after a half hour or so it would give you this message that you had a job in your queue too long and it was going to be returned, but it never shut me down and doesn't now. I've also had my work picking up lately.
I've never had that problem either - KMT

I just have gotten the boo message saying that a job has been in my queue too long, usually cause I'm working on a long split job. I ran out of work for awhile, but I have a friend who works for 2 other places and she was short on work, too. My workload has increased lately. I haven't had any problems with SoftScript.
Although I work for Spheris/Medquist right now, SoftScript called me today and wanted to know if I wanted to work for them. I had applied with them before being hired by Spheris. They assured me they DO have work right now. ...
I've been an IC for 10 years with the same company. Made excellent money working only part time. This company has now lost a lot of accounts and work has slowed to almost nothing (had no work so far today). Now I'm looking into getting a job through one of these national companies and have been reading the posts made here and have sent my resume to a couple places. I feel shell-shocked with all the questions. Can anyone tell me what these na ...
Hi all. Can anyone tell me what the scenario is nowdays with MQ QA/editors? Do they still have just QA or is it QA combined with transcription? Do they pay per hour and can anyone tell me approximately how much? Thanks in advance. ...
What does anybody know about a company called Softscript and what do they think -- I think Medical Transcriptionists are being ripped off. I have worked for 3 major transcription companies; and have watched my income steadily decline. I've been doing this work for 23 years and wish I knew how to do something else. With the new platforms it's close to impossible to get a good line count, you're paid less when you edit, and your QA'ed to death. The company I currently ...
Is anyone current working at Softscript that can tell me if they are a good company to work for? I have had enough with Nuance. If most of you haven't figured it out yet, we US employees are only working for Nuance to do their cleanup. The reason work is so slow is because of Dragon and India's cherrypicking. I now have 5 accounts compared to 1 or 2 a year ago with slow work still. ...
Just recently offered a position at SS. I was just going through the archives to see if there was any info on this company, but everything seems pretty old on here. Anyone working for them now that could give some advice? Good company/bad company? I read where communication is non-existant, but if that is the worst of it.. I can handle that. I have worked for M*Modal....so that is pretty much the bottom of the barrel! SS has GOT to be better than them! ...
Have read lots of negatives. My basic question is about whether there is enough work available and what the benefits are like especially health insurance. Am just really looking for some accurate current info. Thanks. ...
My plan was to retire PT and work PT, however, I was told MModal is no longer allowing employees to go PT only if you are grandfathered in. Yet, today I see on MTJobs MModal is looking for PT workers. If I do not go PT, I will lose quite a bit of money monthly from SS retirement. I also was told we are only allowed to take 3 sick days a year. ...
We now have a Job Wanted board available. This is a board for you to make confidential posts that list what you are looking for in your job search.
There are many ways to use the Job Wanted board. There are also safe practices you, as posters, should take for professional security.
Posters responding to your job-wanted ad can be recruiters, facilities, any business wanting to respond to you. Other fellow posters (MTs) can also make suggestions about companies ...
I was just wondering if anybody has gotten a response from a company yet? I am on there and I have not heard a thing. If this is not in the right spot, I am not sure exactly where to post this! ...
Thank you to all of you who have gotten in touch. I really loved working with each and every one of you and your support and concern is so truly appreciated! But you know what? Honestly, I am looking at this as a blessing in disguise. I would not want to work for a company that constantly lies to its employees and has no regard for anything other than their own pockets. Please keep in touch. You can all still contact me at tpkj05@yahoo.com or ca ...
I just started this new job 2 weeks ago working for a plastic surgeon. Now trying to build my reference book library. What books would you recommend? I know I need a PDR...I'm having trouble deciding which one would be best. I also am needing a good Plastic/Cosmetic surgery reference book.....any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for your help. ...
An hour or two ago, I had a word question and put it on the word board and within a matter of five minutes, someone posted the answer.
I know we all have our own opinions and experiences but I am an MT with 20 plus years of experience and my mind just went blank on this word. Well, I was glad this fellow MT helped me out, so I did not have to send this to QA. I looked up the word again myself just to be certain not that I doubted this other MT and then I took a minute to thank ...
Hey all, I'm seriously thinking about dropping MQ and transcription in general as the outlook looks grim. I was thinking of going to school as a pharmacist. If anybody knows what such job is like and can give me their opinion and maybe some encouragement to make such a move, I would appreciate it. TIA! ...
your job-hunting results. There are a lot of people with 10-20+ years' experience seeking work. I'm in the same boat. My experience so far has been that NOBODY is interested in hiring older, highly-experienced MTs. Any of you starting to feel that vibe?
So I'd be interested to know what sort of results you get from the Jobs Wanted board. When you truthfully state your many years of experience, are you getting any offers? Are they willing to com ...
I am curious if anyone who has posted on the Job Wanted Board if you have actually had anyone contact you regarding your experience. I am wondering if companies actually look at this or are other MTs seeing who their competition is . . . Just curious.
thanks ...
