Outsourced to Transcend - nervous

Just found out my hospital job is being outsourced to Transcend. They offered me job and promise we can keep same account. The line rate is about the same. They said we would keep same schedules. Would have to learn Voice Rec. Anybody else go through this. We only have 2 days to give them an answer.

about 3 years ago, and I am very satisfied still. I came very close to refusing the job, partly due to the negatives on this board. They have kept their promises to me. If you search the boards here, you will find positive responses too. In my experience, they are very organized, professional, considerate, flexible, and I have plenty of work. Their QA is very fair and pleasnt. Give them a chance, if for no other reason that this economy will make it hard to find anything. If your experience is different, you can always leave later. They'll probably start you at a higher rate and with more consideration this way, rather than if you decline now and then try to come aboard.

Out of the big companies I think Transcend is the best. They keep their word as far as being able to keep your hours and you account. However, the benefits are not as good as hospital benefits and the online game is much different than the face to face management, got to learn how to play. Also your pay scale will be different with VR, you might think your getting the shaft, but this is the reality this is transcription these days. Transcend is very flexible and if you run out of work on your account they are very good about supplying you with a secondary. I, like the other poster, would definitely give Transcend a chance and if you are unhappy in the meantime you can find work elsewhere.

Happened to me too. Been with Transcend for awhile. Personally, I would give it a shot. At least you'll have a check coming in to help take the pressure off. At least you can alwasy quit later if you don't like it. They are okay. No worse than any other company, but much better than Q.

harder to find another job. You will have same account, no testing and failing MTTest. Much easier transition this way.

Yes. We are in the process but were given a little more notice. Is there a breakin time while you will be still working for your facility, getting paid by the hour and can afford to learn VR? It's not hard but it's hard to make money at the outset while you are still learning. See if the company dumping you will give you time to learn and then take advantage to get all the VR jobs you can get in the system and learn the shortcuts.

I have a few questions for anyone who is in fact an employee of M-Modal. My current employer just informed us that we were being outsourced to M-Modal. We, being 12-13 MTs, are really freaking out. We are hearing all of these "not so good" reviews and really we do not know who or what to believe. Forgive me if this topic has been covered and/or beat to death, but were most of you aware that not only does Nuance outsource some/a good portion of the work to India, but that Nuance India actually outsources their work to other companies? It is one thing that they're sending it oversees in the first place, but then once it goes to another company, and potentially another one after that if they're anything like US companies... So I've been a transcriptionist for 15 years, the last 8 years I've been self-employed, contracted to a local hospital (recently bought out by a bigger hospital), and several family practices and nursing homes.
