I think our supervisors are in the same boat with us. However, to keep their jobs, they have to color their communications to staff (us) in the manner stipulated by the company. It might seem stiff, uncaring and absolutely contrary to the personality they present to the world, but they are trying to keep their jobs. After us, our immediate supers are the low men on the totem pole and I believe they take a beating. I can tell that by how often my supervisors change. Also, as they are hourly instead of production, their salaries cannot be whittled down to minimum wage via the strange line counting devices we have to struggle against. If they are making a decent salary, the company might think that diminishes their value as they could hire 2 or 3 people for that money. I would not complain about them or give anyone a reason to start picking away at their flesh. None of this is their fault. They started out loving this profession, just like most of us did. I am not, never was, and never want to be a supervisor in the MT industry.
