Pays - Poor MT

The only thing these companies are good at is decreasing pay and benefits and covering it up. They hide behind their buy outs of other smaller companies to decrease rates and benefits and are able to slip through cracks. Why is it motto is patient quality care, yet they decrease our pay/benefits, expect more work produced, don't pay for breaks away from desk (which is not good for our health and they claim they care), dictators are not held accountable for their mistakes, editing jobs are horrible requiring more and more work as pay gets less, a lot more is required that is not production based on our part, yet we do not get paid for it. The list just goes on and on. Even the change of pay periods from twice a month to every 2 weeks with increased insurance rates so the insurance, or the company, is getting an extra month premium, and of course, the coverage gets worse each year! So sickening. No raises but can afford to buy others. We all really need to stand up to this before the paperboy makes more than we do.

The most poetic company Christmas gift I ever got was from Archivus - when they sent us all magnetic refrigerator magnet note pads and the company name was misspelled on their logo - ARCHIIVUS.

LOL, this from a company who requires 98.5% accuracy day in and day out. I can't even make it up that good!

So far this year, we have received a decrease in our PTO (minus 5 days) and today we received notice that the amount we are paid for those PTO days we do get will be at a decreased rate of pay. I'm guessing that's our Christmas "gift."

Over the last 30 years, our work has steadily left the country across the board in many vocations, especially blue-color jobs. We are in dire straits because of corporate avarice. There should have been a law put in place that all employees get a cut of the profits, not just the fatcats. They can share a bit of it, but they won't. Our government representatives have allowed this to happen while giving themselves raises every year. They are ignorant of what it takes to keep a meager roof over and three squares on the paltry earnings offered today. What is there to get patriotic about? And I'm supposed to get warm and fuzzy over the fact that I can voice my opinion? I ain't feeling it.

If you were private owner of company, would you want g'ment to - tell you how to run it, how to split profits? nm

They tend to do much to avoid paying those. If you get even one bad audit, bye bye sign on bonus. So many hoops to jump through regarding schedules, hours, audits, yada, yada, yada.

Did you receive the 1K bonus or was it promised to you in the future? In my 26+ years in this "career," I've been promised oh so many things including bonuses. The thing is, they don't usually come through with those promises of bonuses. I hope your situation is different.

I have been in this biz for a lot of years and sign-on bonuses are given after 3 to 9 months, usually in increments.

If you look at the job board, it is likely Accentus she is talking about and they are offering it after 30, 60 and 120 days. Trust me, there will be massive hoops to jump through to get that. I don't understand why they are offering that anyway. They just got bought out by Nuance and the Transcend people who were just assimilated took a pay cut.

worked for them I got an umbrella my last year there. They went from giving us gift certificates for turkey or hams along with a bonus check to just an umbrella. The last few years of employment with them dwindled down to nothing.

I sincerely doubt that the company big shots are reading the postings here, plus the anonymity wouldn't make your thank you mean much. I would think it more appropriate to send a handwritten thank you note, which is what I used to do when I worked for TransTech. I'm glad your comany sends you gifts. In this day and age, most of us are just lucky to have a job. Still, it kinda rubs it in to those of us who work for Scrooge companies who treat us like piece worker ...

Okay, I am a lonnnnggg time MT/ME with Q for almost 18 years. Historically I have ALWAYS taken New Year's holiday and worked Tgiving and Christmas every year. (most of the time NJA anyway). What gets me is that I asked 3 months ago for the dates Dec 30, 31 and Jan 1. Now Fri and Sat are my days off anyway (work 2 hours Fri), so I said I would work Mon and Wed before these days to make up. Now we get the message no more PTO, even New Year. ...

I am single, no dependents, my office portion of my apartment is only about 10%, so that means only about $100/month for rent/utilities/internet, so still way below the standard deduction.
