Inscribe - anyone experience - anon

Posted: Oct 22, 2014

I see a constant ad for Inscribe on Job Seeker's Board and to me this is not a good sign.  However, before I jump to that conclusion I was wondering if anyone has worked for them and what your experience has been.  I looked at their site and was tired just reading all of the steps to just take their test.  If this place does not have a good reputation, then I do not want to waste my time with testing that sounds like it will take hours.  Thanks very much!

Inscribe - I made a mistake

I just gave up on them after wasting 2 weeks. I made < $2 in that amount of time, despite them saying at hire that I would be starting "the next day." And despite constantly seeing "we need help, everybody type" emails internally. I didn't finish supervision and start working for real because no one could get around to it.

I ignored/missed the posts that said they were slow and disorganized and you couldn't make $ for them, and instead focused on the ones that complained about too many "work now" harassing emails or prayer emails and said, "I can handle that." Didn't get enough to handle :(

I looked at the line counts (posted by MT # so anonymous) when I completed a full pay period with them without making $ and decided not to bother, as no one made enough lines/$ to make it worth my while.

Thanks very much! - Anon

I was afraid of something being off with this place. Having worked for Nuance, I know what it probably means to see a company with a constant "help wanted" ad on the board. I have other interviews pending, so I am sure I will find something good very soon. Thanks very much for the info. :)

I made a mistake too. - Former Inscriber

I could have written the post above, except I wasn't as smart as the above poster. I gave them "the benefit of the doubt" and figured there would be a learning curve and low line count was to be expected for a little while.

After 3 months, I was out of there! I averaged less than $4 an hour, and quite a few times made less than $2 also.

They want you to waste your time mentoring others and having others mentor you by not allowing blanks to QA without going to an instant messenger "blast room" and asking for help. Then waiting, waiting, and waiting some more. They'll state til the cows come home that it's not mandatory, but you are deducted from their "currency system" if you don't use the blast room.

Their "currency system" starts out at $100, but there are deductions for a million and one petty things that the owner will constantly change her mind about, like not attending a mandatory conference call (one was scheduled at the last minute for a Friday night at 10 p.m. CST). Once you reach $95, your contract is terminated.

They change management as often as changing their underwear. Not sure if management can't take it either or if management is changed according to the mood of the owner, but either way it was never clear who to contact for questions or help.

Then there are the never-ending barrage of emails from the owner, expecting you to work on just about every account they have that is "noncompliant" - or you receive threats of contract termination. Even if the accounts aren't yours, they expect you to work SPOE just so they don't get fined for the jobs being late.

Oh, I almost forgot the constant changes in company policies that are not part of the original signed contract, like changes in pay dates, etc.

It was way too crazy, disorganized, and unproductive for me with way too many off-the-wall demands. So glad I left when I did and finally found a true IC position at a wonderful company, making almost 4x the money I did there.

Glad I'm not the only one - Peppermint Patti

I got hired by Inscribe for one account that I absolutely could not do (the sound quality was horrible), and then I was begged to try another one. I did my "3" required to do and they took me forever and I never did hear back. Somebody else just contacted me recently and I do see Inscribe advertising all over the place. I think they spend way too much time on IM, blast room, prayer board, blah, blah, blah, instead of just sticking with the basics - get the work done. I have over 20 years of experience and had my own transcription company until the EMRs took over. I LOVE doing transcribing. Trying to find something right now. Can the "Former Inscriber" let us know who she is working for now?

I just had my contract with Inscribe terminated because I could not understand one dictator. They hired me for one account but lost it, so they changed accounts on me after 2 weeks and switched me to an account that was HORRIBLE. I prefer to work midnight until 4. No one was in the darned "blast room" at that time. When I pointed that out, the response was work earlier, umh No. I was told today that the QA advisor was always available for questions, right before they fired me.

I have over 30 years experience. I am an excellent transcriptionist. The QA dinged me for things like I typed "the protime," and they said it was dictated "her protime." I mean really. There were so many dings like that I can't even count them. I would have one QA person tell me to do things one way and another tell me to do it different. I don't know why I stayed there as long as I did. I spent so much time trying to understand one of the worst dictators I have come across. I think my pride got the best of me.

Oh, I forgot, they switched mandatory line counts from 4000 to 5000 a pay period. They threatened to terminate anyone who was below that, so I suspect they are terminating a lot of people on my account, because in the "blast room" women were always asking for help with any dictator, and if no one answered them, they would send it to QA, so I suspect they got the same treatment as I did, and they won't have anywhere near 5000 lines because there was no work available.

Things someone should know if they are considering working at Inscribe:

1. They are the most disorganized place I have ever worked. They throw you on an account with no preliminary training, no information about the hierarchy of the place. I still don't know who the "M&Ms" are.

2. They will change their minds constantly on what they want you to do and how much they want you to do.

3. They will switch you to accounts with no notice and no training on the new platform you will be working on. My training consisted of having someone tell me how to do two reports, and then left me to the "blast room" to figure out the rest. My "mentor" would spell you're as your all the time. It drove me crazy. I wanted to correct her so badly, but I was brand new, so...

4. They say they are an independent company that does not hire from abroad, so why were there two women from India that I met in the "blast room?"

5. The QA department does not know what they are doing and what the account specifics are. They told me to expand all abbreviations, and the QA department tells me that is wrong and proceeds to change all of my expansions to abbreviations throughout the document and sends it to the client. Not only was it wrong, but it affected my line count. I had to point out to her that we were told to expand all abbreviations. I had to send her the e-mail telling us to do that before she would believe me. She actually argued with me about it.

There are many more. I would be happy to elaborate if anyone is interested.

I feel like I have been picked up, chewed, and spit out. I am a dedicated person and will work extremely hard for my boss, and the fact they had the gall to fire me really burns me up. Just BE CAREFUL. If they ask you to watch the video you know you're in trouble.

Nov 07, 2010

I have experience in brick & mortar transcription, but not so much online.  A little.  Graduated a few months ago from an online MT school.  Took test for Inscribe.  Great test.  Did well.  Pleasant interview.  IC on weekends.  Sent me all the forms & I completed them, and THEN I went to the IT guy for an install.  I've an old, 2nd hand computer, but I keep it humming fine.  Has installed other online platforms okay.  This would ...

Is InScribe LLC, Kentucky Changing; Anyone Recently Apply Or Been Hired Who Has Years Of Experience;
May 11, 2011

Okay, I know InScribe LLC (Kentucky) has been on the Boards multiple times (at least monthly, if not weekly, it seems), but I just noticed they have a “Premium” ad at the top of the Job Seeker’s Board.  I guess these “Featured Listings” are not free, as the other listings are.  If I remember correctly, most of the posts on the Boards have been by Newbies, because InScribe evidently is one of the few MTSOs that hire new graduates.  However, it appear ...

InScribe US
Feb 27, 2011

Hello MTs! I recently submitted application and tests document to InScribe US and was informed that although I did "well" on the test, I was slightly below their standards. They have invited me to participate in their internship program, take 4 of their learning modules, and work with someone one-on-one to bring me up to their standards. This is to cost $400. Has anyone gone through this process? Is it a scam? I definitely know that more education will benefit me, but I am just looking for some ...

About InScribe... (sm)
Jan 31, 2014

I reviewed comments on InScribe going back to 2005 and the only positive comment I could find is that they pay on time.  A red flag was that they hire newbies and require that you go to an MT chat room and send the audio to another MT to listen to when you have to leave a blank before sending it to QA.  There was also a comment that you are required to read all the comments in the chat room.  Can anyone confirm this is the case?  If so, it sounds like they use the seasoned MT ...
