I'm starting to wonder about the jobs posted - MT4Eight

on these internet sites. I keep applying and never hear anything but a canned response at most thanking me for my interest in their company. I have 13 YEARS EXPERIENCE!!!! What am I doing wrong? I'm starting to get discouraged and am seriously thinking of a career change, but don't know where to go. Anyone else with lots of experience having problems finding work?

I have 20 years of experience and had put out resumes to a couple of places recently just to supplement a bit. Of the 6 I sent out, I heard back from 5. One I was able to immediately eliminate because the pay was too low; the other I had to eliminate because I wasn't available for the required shift; the other 3 offers I was able to eliminate 1 and then decide between the remaining 2 (see my post below, Nuance and Accentus). I chose Accentus.

I agree with GLB that perhaps, with your experience, it might help to have a fresh set of eyes look at your resume to see if it can be tweaked to really highlight your experience. Also, if you're getting to that "MTTest" site, that bugger can be tricky and one must pay VERY close attention to the instructions (i.e., those misspelling multiple choice questions? DO NOT capitalize your response unless you're correcting the first word of the sentence; otherwise, it's marked as incorrect...silly minutae like that is marked incorrect because it's all apparently done by machine).

I'd have a friend or acquaintenace peruse your resume and offer suggestions, or maybe even pay a one-time fee to a professional resume service to tweak it for you. It might be worth that small investment to start opening up some attractive offers.

It is rather simple and to the point. Perhaps I need to boost it up a little bit. Thanks for the advice. Job hunting in this profession has gotten rather depressing lately and I'm just feeling down on myself I think.

It shouldn't cost that much to have a professional resume service take a look at your current resume and, with a bit of tweaking, I'm sure you'll be hearing back often as someone with your experience should.

Keep us posted and let us know how it goes and don't be down on yourself. These MTSOs are so swamped with resumes these days that I'm sure a little tweaking/restructuring of your resume will start the calls coming in for you.

I have no problem getting second or third shift hours.

Is 3-5 years of your recent experience in acute care? - I find most MTSOs are wanting that.

I was out of work for 3 long years. It was frustrating. I applied to hundreds of companies and hospitals and not hired.

Finally, I did have to change when a company asked me to transcribe legal matters for them. I said, heck, yes. I don't regret it either. Medical was too stressful if you ask me. Hang in there.

Is this really true? I was already on the fence about it....I despise ADHI but at the same time realize having CMT could possibly help find a job and sometimes (rarely) get a CMT diff. Not to mention the test cost $300 whether you pass or not. So now you have to pay to pass the RMT? This can't be true. I mean, if you can pass the CMT you should be able to pass the RMT w/o having to PAY for it. ...
