Has anyone heard of Seascript Transription? - nonny

I recently received an email from this company, which seems to be a very small MTSO. They sent "test files," for me to do, after signing a release, which I did. The company sent several emails, stating that they expected 99.9% accruracy, changing tenses in the report, i.e., when I heard "which," it was changed to "that." I actually did 8 reports, and sent her an invoice for pay, which should have been paid either yesterday or today. When I expressed "general concerns," I received emails back that were to the point of yelling or screaming. I am used to doing verbatim, however, to me, this is almost torture and then to tell me that "all of the doctors are on vacation this week. I just have a sneaking suspicion that this company runs hot and cold. But any information would be appreciated.

How did these people get your e-mail? Did you do a background check on them before doing the work for them? Frankly, it sounds like they were trying to get you to work for free. I hope someone on here will have some information they are willing to share.

I actually worked for her myself for about a month,, maybe. If you ever read the Main Board or the New MTs board, this is the lady that brags so much about how many accounts she has, how much money she makes annually, and also speaks about how many injuries she has and how many surgeries she has had, and that it is difficult for her to do all her work, that she has to give away accounts because so many are coming to her to do the work. She "hints" around on the forum about needing help, and just waits for some unsuspecting individual to pop up and say they will work for her. She then says to email her privately and she will contact you on such and such a day. I have warned and warned people about working for this person, but nobody seems to want to listen, until it happens to them. I swear this woman is bipolar or something and that some days she takes her meds and some days she does not. She can be very congenial one day and tell you how well your work is looking, and then the next day nothing you do is right. Consider yourself lucky if you do get paid, because she really drags her feet in that department, as well. The yelling and screaming is part of her game. She makes you feel very unworthy and then suddenly it is all your fault. Get out while you still have some self-esteem left. Threaten her with a lawyer to get paid because that is the only way you will ever get it. Good luck to you!!!

Yep, the same person indeed with her M.O. I have been a transcriptionist for 30 years, and she is really something else -- in fact, she just sent a total of 10 emails to me in a matter of 10 minutes. She sent me a file to transcribe, and when I was asking her about formatting, etc., she told me to forget it. I just wish this person would make up their mind or minds as the case may be. Thank heavens I have an interview coming up with another company.

monikers she uses to try to keep from being identified, but if you read her posts, even with a different moniker, her "personality" and circumstances will reveal who she is. Her and I have had our "go-arounds" too and they were not pretty. She really tried to make me look totally incompetent and how I made 19 fatal errors in one report! But yes, this is her. stay away. I don't think she has been banned. I think she was called on the carpet by so many posters not believing the things she said on the forum that she decided not to post anything for a while. she will be back in due time.

I'm waiting to start my shift and eating lunch, so I was bored and read through her posts. If you read down far enough, her life sounds like an absolute mess. Domestic violence, health issues, etc.

In other words, it sounds like her business style reflects her personal life...Pure and utter chaos.

Good luck to anyone who chooses to work for her. The term "hot mess" comes to mind.

I didn't check it out, but will take your word for it. The thing that strikes me is why on earth someone would share so much of her personal business with the whole world? As to business life and personal life, the Buddhists have a great saying, "How you do anything is how you do everything." I do not know this woman (nor would I want to), but I do feel compassion for her.

After reading this entire thread and perusing her FB pages, I have come to the conclusion that being in this woman's brain is perhaps a scary place. I kind of feel sorry for her because she doesn't appear to be well...but then I wonder how many MTs she has scammed out of their hard-earned pay and I snap out of it, lol!

She sounds a bit overly dramatic and I'm wondering if she isn't twisting a threat to sue into a physical threat, either in her own mind or just for the attention. I hope the OP does get paid. I think that her stating that she had to retype everything is a red flag for "I'm not going to pay you," but I hope that's not the case.

If it's the same one who insisted on being paid for a 65-char line rather than 60-char line, - then good luck to them both.

It's 10 p.m. here and apparently this person does not stop and think about time differences. She has really got my dander up right now and I am copying her most recent email to me as well as my response. She really is something else!!! My response is first, followed by the original email that she sent me.

It is almost 10 p.m. here. I am getting RANTING emails from you and you are looking at emails that I sent out over THREE hours ago. I mentioned to you in previous emails that I had NO idea why the text on the first page was not justified. Excuse me as well for NOT putting one space after a period -- again, the majority of the services I have worked for have always required two spaces after a period. I have been a medical transcriptionist for 33 years, have been a SWAT team member as well as doing QA myself, for various companies, and I know that I am a darned good MT, who takes a great deal of pride in her work. I have NEVER been as harsh with criticism as you are. Even the MTSO's that I have been employed with who adhere by BOS, give some leeway.

Are you kidding? You did state you received the guideline sheet 3 times plus instructions in the email itself.

INSTRUCTIONS: Report text should be justified and only 1 space after a period. AAMT BOS. THE REST IS COMMON SENSE. Also stated was this was my main client.

I also INSTRUCTED YOU NUMEROUS TIMES TO NOT DO THE WORK, BUT YET YOU DID ANYWAYS.

I am paying for a professional service, as our my clients.

I have no accounts whatsoever that would fulfill your demands or clients who would accept this work.

Kinda sounds like someone is off her meds (or just a total nutter).

I don't know how unstable she is but she could probably recognize you from this post. Do you know if she frequents this site? She might come on here and have a meltdown and try to make your life more miserable by trying to withhold your pay or something (I don't believe she legally could withhold your pay but you never know with some of these eccentrics out there).

Good luck dealing with that mess. I had a very close call with someone named Wendy who also ran a very, very small MTSO who went full-on bipolar on me one night. Thankfully I hadn't done any work for her before the meltdown so I was able to just walk away without her trying to withhold my pay.

could put yourself in jeopardy, but since you did not mention any names, she cannot legally do anything to you. People can only guess at who she is, but they do not know for sure. She may threaten to withhold pay though. she did with me and I had to threaten about speaking to an attorney. She said she would talk with HER attorney about a libel suit, but that's as far as it went verbally and I did eventually get my pay. Good luck to you in this situation. I will continue to warn others if they start saying they will work for her, but if they do not listen, it's on them as to what happens. She is a definite sheep in wolf's clothing!

I got several more emails from her last night threatening me with libel. I told her that "I had done some research on her company," and none if it was good. She stated that if I posted about her and used her name, she would sue me for libel. I responded to that remark by saying that according to the rules of MTStars, you are not to use individual names and also that it was a free country and that I or any other individual had the right to post either positive or negative things about an individual. She also sent a couple of emails, stating that she was "sorry I had a brain injury." In our chatting emails I told her that I had a slight case of CP, and that is why I preferred straight typing as opposed to VR accounts. I went on to mention that because of my mother having suffered 2 benign brain tumors in her life, she made me a stronger person in regard to the physical limitations that I had growing up. I also sent her an email last night saying that I expected my compensation (what little it was) which was due on 07/01, deposited into my PayPal account. She proceeded to tell me that she would "mail me a check." I told her that she did not have my correct address (as I had just relocated and she had my old address on my resume). I also told her that I would not accept a check from a bank in California. Sorry this is a bit rambling, but she kept these tirades up until well after midnight last night and as a result, I ended up not sleeping well. Thank heavens I do have another interview in the foreseeable future. The only reason as well that I posted part of the email up was for other people who may fall into her "web," is to see her for the individual she truly is. This is the first time in all of my years on MTStars that I have ever done anything like that.

libel. hmmm. she treats her MTs like crap and then when they post something negative about her, suddenly it becomes a libel suit. She is trying everything she can to keep from paying you. Don't let her win! and don't be afraid of her! (or try not to be). My experience with her was pretty much the same as yours. This makes me believe that she does this with everyone she "sucks in to her web." ugh. she gives me the creeps!

as for bad-mouthing her - you have proof of everything you say straight from her own mouth and written by her own hands in all those emails. She's screwed herself - no lawyer would take that on.

Harrassment, there's a word that comes to mind. You probabaly have several reasons to sue her out of her jockies right there in those emails. I would have them looked over, legal consultations are free. Go for it, at the very least get the money she owes, and get her name and company on Public Record.

I happened to go over to the new MT's board and was surprised to actually see postings there. She had responded to a post from "Old Pro," and was even argumentative with her, stating there was plenty of work in MT, how a new MT could make 10-14 cents per line and how she herself was making over 7K a month. I have close to the same amount of experience in the MT field as "Old Pro," and in one of the posts to Old Pro, this person even talked about another MT and how the quality of her work was terrible. (These are posts that date back to mid-June). In one of her emails to me, she stated she was not in the business of "hand-holding new MTS." Yet, when I sent her my resume, she was extremely impressed with the amount of experience I had. She literally cut me down to the quick with the feedback she provided, stating that "my reports were of such poor quality, that she had to end up retyping them all." She is extremely disorganized and quite frankly -- I just want people to be aware of her. She will used different "monikers" when posting, but reading through her posts you can always tell it is her.

When I first started I felt appreciated and when I left, just a couple months later, I could hardly force myself to sign in. Bi polar also came to mind when dealing with her. She started in again with her "crap." She complained about the amount of time she spent in having to correct my work, while the others turned in perfect work. Yeah right -- a total of 9 reports and one time when I accidentially misspelled the name of the patient. She went on to say that since she had to "spend so much time correcting my work, and basically retyping it, that she had to send my payroll information to payroll." I have told her that if the monies that are earned are not in my Paypal account by Friday, that I WILL be contacting the accounts that she allowed me to work on and letting them know of her unethicial business practices. I also mentioned to her that I found it odd that she would not advertise for help in a conventional way like the rest of the companies do.

she tells you that your work was so bad that she had to do it over again...hence since she had to do it over again, she does not have to pay. Talk about getting free work out of people! this is her MO. She comes on the board trying to get sympathy and bragging about all the accounts she has that she just cannot keep up because of her health issues and being so far behind, until somebody responds saying they will work for her. She "uses" them until she gets her accounts caught back up and then she starts saying your work is so bad that she had to re-do the whole thing, hence not having to pay you! She thinks she is smart, but somebody is actually going to turn her in for fraudulent practices or something. I have been there with this woman... I do not want to do it again and I feel sorry for anybody who has tried. They all end up like I did!! I had compassion for her too.... once, but then realized what she was really up to and I do not have compassion for anyone who lies about their whole lives and gets free labor because of it!

Please think hard before you contact her clients. I know it is tempting, but the trouble you could buy for yourself far outweighs anything that could happen to her. It's strictly your call, of course, but you sound like a rational and decent person. Why get sucked into such a drama? Sometimes it's best to just walk away from people like this. You never know what will spark them off. (That is why we go to court all the time to get Protective Orders for people. NOT saying that this would be the case here, but why provoke someone whosounds so very unstable?) Please be careful.

I have sent "veiled threats" to her regarding contacting her clients. I did, however, report her to the moderatator because of things that she commented on recently in the new MTs board, and out and out insulting a member of this board who has been nothing but helpful to new MT's and others. I refuse to be insulted and treated the way she has treated me as well as other MTs and she needs to be brought to task. I find it very interesting that she "claims to have a disabled husband and wants to pursue disability herself," but claims that she makes 7,000 a month from her business. Even if only her "husband" is "disabled," then according to disability benefits law, she is way over the income level to qualify for anything. I am sooo done with her and I just want other MTs especially those starting out what a witch she truly is.

I have to say that many disabilities are invisible. Whenever anybody says "does not look disabled," I say "What does disability look like?" Many, many disabilities are "invisible." NOT defending these people, not in the least, but I really have a problem with thinking you can determine disability by appearance. NOT making you wrong, just speaking as someone with an invisible disability and trying to do a little polite education.

have no idea how frustrating this is. I have a child who for all appearances sake appears "normal" (then again, what is normal? ) but suffers a very disabling disabiity that impacts their daily life. Please don't judge on looks alone because this is not always the case.

Believe me, I know where you are coming from, and I agree totally with you in principle. However, trying to reason with some people is like trying to reason with someone who is really, really drunk. It just can't be done. I say, leave her alone--not for her own sanity, but for yours. As to the person she insulted--Old Pro has been around the block a few times, knows how the world works, and I truly would doubt that she opens any e-mail if she does not personally know the person sending it. More and more people have adopted this policy, and I think that is a good policy for everyone. In this day and age of cyberstalking, viruses, and what seems to be a proliferation of nutjobs in our world, I take a "hands off" position with them. I think we should all be done with her. There is also the issue that if we buy into nuttiness from any source, it steals our time from us. I think we all have better things to do with our time than deal with drama kings and queens, nutjobs, and people who are just dysfunctional in general. The real challenge, of course, is in discovering that people are this way before you get into a business relationship with them. It is sad that such people do not get help, but part of their pathology is the thought that "I can do no wrong." The complaints will be posted for the public and they will contact her to help you. Her name and company name with the complaint no matter what the outcome will remain public. and then file with small claims court in your area - nominal fee - they will also contact her.

and are all legal. I would also contact the business licensure of the state she does business in and see if she has a license. Then contact that state's Tax Commission (assuming it is not one of those few states that does not have a state tax) and see if she is paying the proper tax withhold from her employees. Same with the IRS. You might run all of this by the AHDI and see if they have any info on her as well.

but was thinking about contacting her a couple of weeks ago, or whenever the last poast was, since she seemed in dire circumstances and I know what that feels like. Guess from what I see her, glad I didn't. After seeing these posts, googled a bit, a lot of info out there, not on Facebook myself. I hope OP is able to get a peaceful resolution and payment. I still feel bad for her in that she may be disabled and not just obvious physically, and I know how emotionally and physically draining having a very ill family member is, as many of us probably do, but I guess that doesn't excuse just out and out nastiness to someone trying to help. Nope not me unless my father changed my name to a "J" name for some reason -- she must be having a TON of problems right now with other people as well, and my posts could have been the tip of this iceberg. Quite frankly, she sent me an email a couple of hours ago, stating she was going to pay me by check and I told her that if it was not drawn on a major bank, that I would be returning it to her. I will not accept this kind of payment from someone that I believe to be unstable mentally and this is after she agreed and told me at the beginning that I would be paid via PayPal.

I'm sure there are many more. I just spent a few minutes following links found in Google. The two company names listed above as well as Seascript all use the same address for an apartment in Costa Mesa, CA.

I have known people like this in life and steer clear of them. The reason she has no time to sleep is because she has to spend so much time fighting the world that is against her.

I wonder if that's the extent of her company alias list or if there are more. Perhaps someone who's provided services for her under one of those other company names will come forward and post if they see this. Seems like there's another very small MTSO who follows that same MO, burning bridges with MTs, changing the company name and doing it all over again. I can't remember her company name but I think it had "scribes" in it.

Well after "peasce and quiet" on the 4th and the 5th, I received an email from her this morning. In this email she stated "that her clients were her treating physicians for her disability" or whatever it is she is suffering from. She then went on to say in this email -- asking, how I could bring her husband into this -- I don't believe I ever once mentioned her husband, and from our correspondence, she never mentioned that he was married or disabled. This was information that I saw after other posts regarding this person. Her last sentence was "Cyberstalking," look up the term. I REALLY feel sorry for this lady in the sense that it just seems like the type of person to want and expects drama in her life because it makes her feel important. Again, the ONLY reason that I even started this thread/post was because I started to see her behavior in a way that I wanted to make sure other MTs out there would not fall into her "trap." It's hard enough for all of us out there and we don't need the aggravation or headaches associated with someone who obviously has "problems." Take care all and be careful.

I have posted a couple of times in this thread and IMO that woman is not well. And I don't mean just her chronic pain issues, if you catch my drift.

She has reportedly posted on this site many times herself. Surely she can't think that you personally posted every comment in this thread, can she? You, to my recollection, never brought up her husband; he was only mentioned in passing in a very short comment. She knows how this forum works and knows multiple people offer their comments on a post. It's perplexing that, apparently in her mind, you posted all of these comments yourself.

You make an interesting statement regarding "type of person to want and expects drama in her life because it makes her feel important." I find that perhaps accurate in that, as I recall, she mentions having been a model at some point in her life. Perhaps she does crave attention of any sort, and likes being in the "limelight."

I hope you're able to collect the monies you earned. I think it might be a battle but you're entitled to what she owes you, despite any "conditions" she may personally have.

I think I may have mentioned this before, but if she was truly seeking help because of her backlog, why hasn't she put an ad here or elsewhere? It's odd too, because I have looked at her FB page, and for some reason, she looks familiar, like I knew her before when we might have worked for the same company and exchanged IMs or emails (way before Facebook). I have moved on and hopefully away from her "drama." Worst case sceniaro, is my other half is a licensed PI in FL, and I have a friend who publishes a small newspaper in California, who will believe me in a heartbeat. I really cannot believe that she is being treated by the same physicians that she transcribes for. To me, that would be a matter of "ethics." I know physicians as well, that if they see "too much seeking or dramatic behavior in a patient," will drop them like a hot potato. I tend to wonder if she is "a drug-seeking personality," because the whole tone of things seems to fit. We shall see and again, at this point, I pity her and the behavior she has displayed.

that I had was perhaps she is bartering her MT services in exchange for treatment. I don't know if that would even be illegal but it just seems it could be questionable ethically on the part of the physicians. Yes, I noted the upward/downward trend of her posts, too, common in those relying on opioids, either by choice or by force. Quaking in my boots here because she is gonna "sue me big time," after referring her to a drug addict, etc. I again, explained to her that it was a PUBLIC message board and that companies are asked about all the time. She mentioned "J" as well, and said what a horrible, evil person she was. I told her that I have contacted a friend of mine who owns a newspaper in Southern California (not far from her), as well as a private investigator. In addition, I will be contacting the BBB and the Attorney General in her state.

I forgot to mention that in an email I sent to her I said that perhaps since negative things were being said about her, then perhaps she should come on the board and defend herself, as well as the fact that if she was in such desperate need of help, then she should post a legitimate, "MT wanted" type of ad, but I have a feeling sheh as been banned from the boards.

I've read this entire thread and never saw anyone saying she was a drug abuser. Someone suggested her erratic behavior could be indicative of an addictive/drug-seeking type personality.

Maybe her thong is too tight and pinching her backside?

I honestly don't know what her problem is. Had she solved this in a civil manner and paid you for your services as required, you never would have had to inquire here about her practices. It's that simple, in my book. You never even named her, another poster figured out who she was from previous posts.

As I recall, there was also another MT who posted, IIRC, that they had to take her to small claims court (or threaten to do so) to be paid, so I have a feeling she might use these bizarre tactics just to avoid having to pay...you know, make it so miserable to deal with her that one just washes their hands of the entire mess and walks away, chalking it up to experience.

I think she's blowing smoke. I don't see from anything posted ANYWHERE in this thread she'd have grounds to sue anyone.

It's like she's on a career suicide course or something, the way she lures in people to "help" her, then apparently berates them and doesn't pay them accordingly. Surely she has to realize the MT world is a relatively small one and word of this type of encounter is bound to spread. We are indeed our "brother's keeper" in the MT world. Who with any conscience could sit around and let other MTs be burned? Crazy.

Geez, I'm glad I've never had to deal with this woman. Sounds like you have your hands full and still haven't been paid. What a nightmare!

ETA: Is "J" that MT she mentioned in a FB post from whom she hadn't heard in a few days and owed her work? I can't figure out who "J" is, except for that particular MT.

when she sent my check in the past, after the same type of goings on, it did clear the bank. I went to the bank the same day I got it thinking the same thing you did, but it did clear. Yours probably will too.
