Has OptumInsight lost some accounts? I noticed there is - concerned

less and less work and fewer MTs. Not sure what is going on, but the future doesn't look bright to me.
Former Axolotl MT - the writing has been on the wall and - Management has a list

They were trying to find reasons to get rid of MTs. There was a list of MTs names they were after one by one. Even long-time editors quit because of these tactics. I knew when they were acquired that it wouldn't be long. They just don't want to pay Unemployment.
They dont need to "look" for a reason. At will employment can end - at any time, just like you can sm

quit at any time. They dont have to, but they could just say your work wasnt up to their standards and you are out the door. No business needs to look for a reason to let one go.

Not all states are fire-at-will states, like CA. However, if they fire you, you can still get unemployment. I am enjoying it, going on 1.5 years.
Good for you! My state - MT

My state's maximum UE benefits are only about $1000 per month. That's enough to live on *IF* you're living with your parents.
There's no way to survive on that in the real world.
at-will employment is a doctrine that applies in all states - other poster
Been there done that with them. They won't fire you without cause - Buttheywillrideyou

Until you get sick of it or they find reasons to get rid of you, whether it's by termination or "lay-off". They keep a list if who is the target, put you on 100% QA for months at a time for no reason, just trying to catch something.
They are now owned by United Health. This company employs 30,0000 people. They wanted Axolotl for their EHR, not their handful of MTs. Transcription is just dirt under their fingernails!!
You're way off. Try 100,000+ people, which - concerned

makes the 50 or so MTs/QA even more of a headache more than anything else.
They didn't have to take us in the buy out though and I can appreciate that they did. I just feel like we're in limbo.

I worked for Axolotl for about 1-1/2 years and for about six months under the United Healthcare Group. I left to get completely out of the MT rollercoaster and I have never looked back. When I first went to work for them it was a decent place to work but once they pushed us into M-Modal in such a hurry things went downhill quickly. I liked all the MTs I worked with there but the management was awful with the top person leaving it to the number to micro manage everything, and micro manage she did! I hate things are not good for the remaining MTs but I am so glad to be out of it altogether. I think medical transcription is a sinking ship and we would all do well to look elsewhere for jobs as it is only a matter of time before the ship goes completely under.

Oops! I should have viewed my last post! I meant to say that "the top person in management (in transcription) left it to the number two person to micro manage everything." Howevever, neither of them would win a personality contest and their management style was rather cold and abrupt if you ask me. I am sure there are people who will disagree but that is how I saw it.
So, what you are doing now? I'm just curious. :) Thanks!

Hi WantToJump - I am working in a cancer research department at a large teaching hospital and I absolutely love it! I was so glad to get out of transcription and the cut throat business it has become. I really do think it is a sinking ship and it is only a matter of time before the voice recognition software gets it completely correct and eliminates the MT. I just kept my head up and my ears and eyes open and was always on the lookout for something that would work for me with my MT background and it happened! Even though medical transcription's ship is going down, there are tons of new technological fields out there that can use us girls and the experience we bring as MTs so my advice is if you are ready to jump, there is something out there for you. Good luck to you!
Axolotl (OptumInsight) still the best in my book! - moonchild

Am somewhat astounded by these replies. In my opinion, Axolotl (OptumInsight) is still the best place to work in this field today, and I have worked a long time and for a lot of different companies. I seldom if ever run out of work, affordable benefits, PTO, retirement, downtime when necessary, paid holidays and a generous hourly wage, which is pretty unheard of doing VR. The supervisors have always been very kind and supportive to me, and I appreciate their professionalism. The editors are exceptional and bend over backwards to help with problems. Technical support is the best I have ever encountered. The new company has supplied us with new computers and incorporated us into their system. I for one feel very fortunate to have such a job and will worry about making a change if and/or when that time comes.
wipe the BROWN off your nose. If you get nice replies of MT supervisor - you definitely need a rag

Everyone who worked their for anyperiod of time dealt with her wrath. I was there for a decent amount of time. They have even weeded some long-term editors/QA people. Talk to THEM!! you are definitely suspicious as NO ONE person I know of has EVER complimented the No.2 in charge. LOL Good Luck as the transcription side is nothing but a pesty thorn irritating the company. it will be gone soon,.

I completely agree with you - Moonbeam sounds like a number 2 micro manager trying to justify herself and her company to me! What goes around comes around and I while I don't wish anyone any bad times, she definitely needs to know that she was abrupt, rude and controlling. And the as for the number 1 spot, I think she just enjoyed not having to deal with us peons and let number 2 have at it! I didn't get the warm fuzzies from her either on the rare occasion that I spoke with her. I had no problems at all with any of the QA editors as they were all very helpful and sincerely seemed to look out for the MTs. I think it could have been the best company to work for in the MT field if the management had been different. I just think you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, you know? At any rate, I wish all the editors and MTs still hanging in there all the best but have nothing good to say about the other two. Just my opinion.
For the past 2-3 weeks I have noticed my account no longer has the dictators who use routines/standards, except 1 who is difficult to understand. All the dictators who were understandable are just about gone. I would say at least 95% of my account is now just bad dictators. I was hoping it was just a holiday thing, but I hear in the dictations I am doing say so and so, who is a good dictator, saw the patient or consulted etc. so I know the good ones are still aro ...
This lost accounts business is b.s. They have been pushing overtime in QA for a long time because they needed people and now they have the nerve to lay people off. Nice way to do business. I actually feel sorry for the workers left there with all of that work. They are going to drill those employees into the ground with work. ...

I am a TTMT but not on the lost accounts. I am curious ... are these the 2 accounts that suddenly went to EPIC or are these 2 other accounts? What was the reason given by Imedx for the loss of the accounts?

I used to work for 3-T and they lost accounts so we let go. Now have been in touch with them because they have obtained new accounts. Anyone else in this position? I think I would like to work for them again but reading the recent posts about the company causes me concern. The glitch now is about the computer. I can use my own if I upgrade or buy one from company. Not sure what to do here and now I feel like I am getting a bit of a runaround on the subject. My initial excitement is ...
I am sorry to bring this up here, but I just wanted to know if anyone else who works for Optuminsight, or Axolotl is concerned about where the transcription portion of the company is going? I have noticed the workload has diminshed significantly since the takeover. There have been people who have been there for a significant amount of time retiring or quitting. Even the Optuminsight website says nothing about transcription nor does United Health Group. The letter to the c ...
2 MTs are filing a TAA petition. 3 are needed to apply online ourselves.
It is just a petition, nothing against the employer and, if nothing comes of it, at least we stood up to let the federal government know we are losing our jobs to overseas and due to technology. You would think we could get some help as IT people, auto industry, and many others do get assistance when their jobs are lost.
It would be an interesting statistic to see how many MTs in this country hav ...

...all the MT resumes listed on the Job Wanted Board ???

Why go to the trouble of advertising when those of us on the Job Wanted Board already have our skills and experience outlined for them and we state ...
I was just looking back through all my pay stubs from 2010 and MQ took out less than $5.00 in federal taxes.
The same dollar amount is listed in the "year-to-date" column on EVERY SINGLE STUB. There is never an amount in the current week column and the number never changes in the year to date column.
WHAT?!?!?

That QA/Fiesa only seems to find little errors? I often wonder if the only errors that I make are a left/right discrepancy, date/age discrepancy, a, the, etc. I have no idea who does my QA, but I'm wondering why they never find a big mistake, like a sound-alike drug or sound-alike instrument or disease. I'm wondering if others have big mistakes found or are those who do our QA only able to find those kinds of errors - the kind we would find too if we went back and rel ...

job postings now are for IC's? Way to get around Obamacare. Of the 80 people listed, only 10 had a 300+ line count. Of those 10, 4 had a high (highlighted in red) QA submission score. The highest line count was 415 with a 24% QA submission score.
The average seemed to be between the minimum of 150 and about 250ish.

the new MModal ad for PT transcriptionist? The text of the job description is so long it won't entirely fit an iPad screen. My CCM finally called and left a message saying I hadn't been logging on and she would have to process termination if I didn't get in touch with her. "A phone call would be nice," I think is how she worded it.
I didn't call her back. I just sent her an email and told her to go right ahead and process termination, that I didn't call because I didn't feel that the Q deserved the courtesy of a call when they treat their MTs like trash.
So I am officially free. ...
Not complaining, mind you, but what's going on. I'm up to 10% transcription for this pay period. Did they decide to cut back on the SR, were their complaints by doctors saying they liked it better when we typed? LOL just wondering if anyone has noticed it and/or knows why. ...
"check document as you type," there is no delay while typing and there is no delay when moving the audio slider. ASR seems to run smoother also, like before 6.1.
I did kind of like the "check document as you type," but not worth how it slows everything down..I think too much for the program to handle. Now the only thing worth the upgrade to me, as well as the only new feature I use other than doctor lookup (which I am getting used to), is the auto numbering feature. I just love ...
