Someone asked about them and I am bringing it back up to the top. One person said it all now VR, another said they saw their only account in the "Nuance pool." I don't get it. First of all, what is a Nuance Pool? I work for them and although work has slowed down, if Nuance was now contracting, wouldn't the work be completely gone? Also as for all VR, it's about half and half. We are hoping the summer slow down will end soon and work will pick up again.

I really like this company and pray the slow down ends SOON!

I don't know how much of this I'm allowed to say but on the list of facilities when we have to do downloads I saw their facility listed. That's all I'm going to say I still need this job until I can afford to quit.

if they would be doing any of the regular work because there is still "regular work" available! I've worked for at least one company before that has been gobbled up by Nuance and it happened quickly, all or nothing. Anyway I sure hope this isn't the case.

Isn't Nuance also a software? Perhaps it's just saying - also

that facility is using the Nuance software? I've had 2 jobs that have required software that was labeled as "Nuance" yet they were not my employer. Looking at the glass half full. I love GCT!

I have been with GCT for 5 years, and I can honestly second what Jan and Debbie Z have posted. I have been a transcriptionist for over 25 years, working for services and being in-house transcription supervisor for 14 years. I have not, repeat, have not found a better company to work for! There are definitely changes in our industry, but I for one am staying put, as I feel our manager is being very honest with us. What more can you ask for?

This is too rosy a picture compared to what I experienced. There is micromanaging, maybe not before but NOW as in right before I left recently!! NOW because there is no work. They want to make sure you only work your scheduled time to the T even though IC and no more because then you're taking work from someone else. AND if you were scheduled to work, they cut that back to make sure a certain shift had work when they started. So that is micromanaging IMO. I heard they "laid off temporarily" MTs (technically not laid off because IC status) - yeah, right - they are not ever coming back. They wanted to get rid of them to have work for themselves, the ones who've been there longest or for their highest producers AND for their day shifters. I wasn't one of "those laid off" but I got tired of NJA. Seeya!!! So don't believe all the hype about how great a place this is. I call BS when I hear it!

They have terminated some office/administrative people and now have eliminated weekend incentives and given pay CUTS to transcriptionists. Work is nearly non-existent. At the beginning of the summer they said it was a temporary slow down and would pick up shortly. Instead it seems to be getting worse. Anyone know anything?? It appears that Gulf Coast has either severely cut the hours, or laid off most of their IC transcriptionists. I was laid off. This was a nice company to work for, and I would really feel bad for them, but they told us things that just weren't true since last summer when they started losing work. Has anyone tested with them? Here's their testing process if you're interested......it's a hoot! I got a Word document which asked me to supply the correct spellings. have heard it gets slow during the summer, particularly July-August, but this slow? I love it there, I really really do. I read, below, about people who said just get used to the slow down and I am trying, but I am not evening making minimum.
