Just before I decided to move on, they had lowered the pay rate for VR.

I work for GCT, and I assure you there has not been a decrease in V.R. pay. In fact, GCT pays higher for V.R. than any other company. Summer is always slow because the majority of our patients are "snowbirds," which means they go to Florida for the winter months.

And before anyone posts that I am management, I am NOT management. I'm just a loyal GCT MT who knows that the work will pick up in a couple of months.

I was one who was laid off when work slowed for GCT down last October. I only worked part-time and I figure that is why I was laid off. According to one of the MTs I keep in contact with work is slow there yet :-(. I wish it would pick up, and I could go back there. I absolutely LOVE that company..... one of the bests, that's for sure!!!!!!!

It used to be the same as the straight typing rate. It went down, not as low as other companies, but it was decreased. I loved working here, but I waited it out a very long time, hoping, and there was no work, even in the winter months. Your information is just inaccurate.

Of course the line rate decreased when we went from straight typing to V.R. But it hasn't decreased since then. We were paid straight typing rate for months while we were learning the V.R. system. Even when it went down to the V.R. rate, it's still higher than any other V.R. rate in the industry.

I held on for a long time, believing that the work would pick up, too. First it was "wait until fall", then it was "wait until after the first of the year." Well, I waited, and then was laid off. I was put on "on call" status, but have never heard another word from them. They can't be THAT busy because I, and others like me, have never been called to come back.

You are kidding yourself if you believe it will pick up when he "snowbirds" come down. Since the implementation of Epic there is a great decrease in work. I am betting it will not change..... snowbirds or no snowbirds! It is brutally slow and I run out of work daily. Not even making enough to pay my basic bills.

have heard it gets slow during the summer, particularly July-August, but this slow? I love it there, I really really do. I read, below, about people who said just get used to the slow down and I am trying, but I am not evening making minimum. It all seemed to happen after the computers were switched over or whatever it was mid-May with lots of work and now barely any. They have terminated some office/administrative people and now have eliminated weekend incentives and given pay CUTS to transcriptionists. Work is nearly non-existent. At the beginning of the summer they said it was a temporary slow down and would pick up shortly. Instead it seems to be getting worse. Anyone know anything?? Someone asked about them and I am bringing it back up to the top. One person said it all now VR, another said they saw their only account in the "Nuance pool." I don't get it. First of all, what is a Nuance Pool? I work for them and although work has slowed down, if Nuance was now contracting, wouldn't the work be completely gone? Also as for all VR, it's about half and half. We are hoping the summer slow down will end soon and work will pick up ...
