reading the past posts on this company do not look good...i just spoke with a "recruiter' and, of course, they made it sound good...anybody currently working for them...is it as bad as I've read???

I work for them. I just started. The people you work with during training/recruiting are extremely nice. Now, the work...some of it is easy and some is just plain impossible. You get a lot of Indian dialect doctors, some heavier than others. I'm not quite sure about the pay yet, it doesn't look like I'm going to make a lot, but I did just start out and am getting used to the system, so the going's a little slow. You do mostly editing, so keep that pay grade in mind. If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help.

I was wondering how the health insurance is they offer, how much it costs, etc. Do you work nights? They said 10 cpl straight and 5 cpl editing at night shift. Do you work on Editscript?
I just submitted the test last night so I don't know how I did yet, but it wasn't hard really.

Do new hires get established accounts? - luv2edit

Do new hires get "new" accounts? What I am asking is if new hires get the accounts that are new to VR, and so have 100% typing for 3+ months until the software is trained. I really like to keep my typing at a minimum 'cause I'm fast at editing and make more $ editing than typing. I'd apply to Focus if I knew I wasn't going to get stuck typing for months instead of editing.

I've only just started...so, I'm not available for insurance yet. Now, they told me it was very good. Medical, dental..BUT of course, I didn't get a price. It's blue cross, blue shield. That's all I know about that one, I'm sorry. I will try to find out more. I work 1-9p(CST) which is 2-10p(EST). I like the hours okay because I don't sleep at night. I'm supposed to get 8 cpl transcription and 4 cpl editing. Yes, I work on Editscript. It's a great program so far. It's editing program is very easy.

Nice people but work is impossible to make any money. As bad as the accounts are with ESL, they should pay more than 8 cpl, even with benefits. There was never enough money for me to want to do 80% ESL and long reports at that. On ESLs, a 10- minute report could end up taking an hour and then you end up with a page of work, so many a couple dollars an hour. No thanks but to each his own. I thought I was proficient with ESLs, boy was I was wrong.

Thanks for the Focus feedback. I have a few offers, but this one "sounded" good. BUT you know how that goes,"too good to be true"....usually IS !

What would you say %o f straight transcription vs. editing is? What is % ESL vs. English dictators?

You're welcome! I can say I get 8 cpl transc. and 4 cpl edit. Now, I haven't gotten my first paycheck, that should be next week, so we'll see how true that is. For the transc. vs. editing-out of say, 20 reports-15 were editing and 5 were transcription. That was me though, every day is different, yesterday I had an equal number. Now for the ESL--I'd say around 60% are ESL. BUT, some have accents much heavier than others. Now, this also depends on what region you're in. I'm in TX..so I get some southern doctors too...which can be just as hard. I've been with them a week.

The good thing about the ESL and editing are...that most ESL's you get to edit, so the program kind of helps you out. It's alot easier.

How long before they told you if you passed or failed the test? - Msgirl

I took a test yesterday, and I am anxious to know how I did. It said if you fail they send an email and if you pass they call. I just wondered how long it took for them to let you know.

They still e-mailed me even though I passed. It took a couple of days. Then, they ask for a time to call but they might call anyway. I'm sure you did fine. Be confident :)

And I passed!! She left an email to call her. I called, and she offered me a position, which I took. I have a lot of paperwork to do, etc. Of course, you know. Thankful to have a job at this point. Thanks for the reply.

I received an e-mail today from a recruiter at Focus Infomatics. I applied there last year and didn't meet their experience criteria but the e-mail asked me to send them an updated resume to see if I do now (and I do). I currently work for MQ and quite frankly, I could take it or leave it. I've not been impressed by MQ but I don't see a reason to leave a job I'm not fond of for another job I may like even less. I looked through the archives but couldn't find anything about their platform. I did speak with their recruiter and YOU HAVE to have a 32-bit operating system, XP or Vista, and Windows 7 is not compatible. I'm pretty sure that when I looked at these guys about a year ago now, they set you their computer like many of the national companies do. Also, does it seem like more employers are looking for MTs. A former manager of mine from "brand X MTSO" (in reality, a very dear friend now) got thrown under the bus. She knows how "QBay" does. She is considering an MT or QA job for Focus Infomatics. and has been there long enough to be eligible for benefits? I just took a job with them. I will be able to get insurance in 90 days. They give me a price. It is $217 every pay period (2 weeks) for family coverage. That is Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance with a $2500 deducitble. If you currently work FT with Focus could you share approximately or average of your gross montly income from Focus is. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to apply. I have been working at Focus now for 2 weeks. I think everyone is nice. All my QAs have seemed fair except today one QA (and only this one) counts off for blanks. Well the team lead said you are not penalized for blanks when I hired on. She said you won't be dinged for blanks.
