Can anyone tell me about this company?
One word - Indian - me

Lots and lots of posts in the archives.
Anyone with UPDATED info? - wondering

I do know there is a lot in the archives but I heard they were taken over by Nuance and it is better now. I am wondering if that is the case - are they better to work for?
My experience was good... - onemore

I was hired as an employee with foot pedal provided. I was given an acct that paid $0.08 straight transcription and $0.04 editing. The majority was going to be editing. It was a long hiring process BUT extremely organized. I received tons of paperwork and lots of contacts. They do hire offshore to India for overnight shifts, according to what they told me. They had paid training and to my surprise, I received a check for that. I did not pursue my employment to actually work because of personal issues, but the staff was very friendly and I had no problems. They do have DD, which was also a benefit for me. Feel free to ask any other questions.
Guess what? Those of us who have to EAT don't care... - nm

MTs in this day and age just have to accept the fact that the good ol' days are long gone. Offshoring is a fact, couldn't fight it then, can't fight it now. Rather...the hangers-on can still fight it, but you're not going to get anywhere.
VR is here to stay, along with the LOW wages the stinking companies are paying experienced, knowledgeable MTs. For every experienced MT who "fights" these piss-poor wages, there are how many waiting in line just willing to take those wages just so they can stay at home with their babies and work at home.... *eyeroll*
But that's how it is now.
Our wages are low and will stay that way. That's just how it is now, and it's time for many of the old-timers who know what's its like getting 10-12+ cents a line in the past to acknowledge that MT ain't what it used to be and never WILL be.
The industry's heyday is over. It's now for the newbs who will accept low wages in return for "working at home." And for the old-timers who can't get over the fact that that's the way it is now, it's best to retire or find something else to do. It's just not going to be the way it was, that's all.
there's offshoring, and then there's working for a company that is based in Bangalor - Happy MT Robin
[ In Reply To ..]
Make no mistake, when Nuance/Dictaphone/Focus talks about offshoring, they're talking about the American MTs. This is a company that is owned by Indians and based in Bangalor, India.
If it doesn't matter to you, then great. If it does, then at least you'll have more information.
Well, actually, no...at this point, it doesn't matter anymore - Not to me. SM

And that's all you got out of my post? Ohhhh welllll.....
Well, worrying about which companies are India based or USA based is SO not worth the bother or stress anymore, IMO.
At this point, it's either stay in the industry and accept all the crappy changes that have been made or get out.
Right now many of us have to stay in no matter how awful it is, but to keep warning people about which company is in India and which is not just doesn't matter anymore! All the companies pay basically the same anyway, Indian-based or not, whether you have 2 months experience or 30 years experience, so what difference does it make to an MT who needs to frickin' EAT and pay the rent?? Not a LICK! At least not to this one.
It does matter - me

The reason I think people ask is because you cannot make as much money if they are ESL physicians. You can't move along as fast and get a good pace going to make any money. You have to stop and try to figure out what they are saying and it is hard to make money. More money obviously can be made if you can move right along with the physicians. That is why it matters whether they are ESL physicians or not.
Where the heck have YOU been? The majority of EVERY - big MT Co. is ESL, USA or India based! lol jeeze

don't care whether they offshore to India or are based out of India get us. If you people won't stand up with the rest of us, we will all be making what they make in India, but with OUR cost of living. God, please wake up people!
oh please, YOU wake up - things are NOT going to be like they were! - Been going downhill for years! sm

Do you REALLY think that we're going to get our wages back up to where they were 10 years ago?? Do you REALLY think we're ever going to get paid for our years of experience? Really? 10, 11, 12 cents a line like 10 years ago??
If you do, you're frickin' DREAMING.
So tell me - - hows that working out for ya?
[ In Reply To ..]
All I've been seeing for the past decade is this industry swirling in the toilet. You're blaming that on the MTs? Really? LOL So what has all this "standing up" you and the "rest of you" are doing gotten yourself or anyone else? I'll tell you what's it's gotten you...Nothing. It's the same outcome whether anyone like you complains about it or not. Best to quit stressing over it and just accept the fact that the industry has been taken over, it's a whole new ball game and WE LOST. Life's a lot let stressful when you can just admit that.
In my opinion - onemore

Quit your bitching! This is getting old quick. If you don't like your pay, company or boss, quit complaining and get out of the business. Some people are just so negative and it gets tiresome. Be happy to the rest of you who enjoy your job!
Duh! That is one of the things I have been trying to say - if you read my post! LOL jeeze such comprehensio

Back to the question - mt
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know what all this talk is about. We all know what is happening with transcription, that is not what this post was about. There are still some companies that are better to work for than others - that was the question - is Focus/Nuance a decent company to work for or is it a waste of time?
Again, it is an Indian company, and actually - sm

one of the original Indian companies to give Indian companies a bad name. All of these Indian companies are a rip-off & are ruining our industry. Look at CBay -- they hired US employees only long enough to get their Indian crew up & trained, and then laid off all their US MTs and QAs & sent all the work to India. THAT is what we're dealing with, and I find it outrageous that there are some on here who will defend what's happening. Guess they won't be defending it when it happens to them, and until then, they don't care about the rest of us who are already dealing with it.

Well, thank goodness the Suffragettes didn't just succumb to your philosphy! Or the slaves...or the Puritans, for that matter! If they had, I guess we would ALL be off-shore!! :)
Just because some companies have lowered their integrity does not mean that we, as individuals, have to. I think everyone has to fight their own battles for their own causes; what is acceptable to me may not be acceptable to you, or vice versa.
Being a "real, real" old-timer, I do, however, remember what it was like before word-expanders and templates. I remember my supervisor trying to convince us that PRD and ESP would make our lives easier and our reports more accurate!
For me, that's where I would draw the line. If my company decides to 'deduct for templates,' like I was reading about on here yesterday, then I would move on -- but just to a different company; not a different career!

Anyone Know Anything About Focus Infomatics? May 04, 2010I received an e-mail today from a recruiter at Focus Infomatics. Focus Infomatics - Anything About Their Platform? Dec 07, 2009I looked through the archives but couldn't find anything about their platform. I did speak with their recruiter and YOU HAVE to have a 32-bit operating system, XP or Vista, and Windows 7 is not compatible. I'm pretty sure that when I looked at these guys about a year ago now, they set you their computer like many of the national companies do. Also, does it seem like more employers are looking for MTs. Is Focus Infomatics Really US-based Now? Jan 29, 2010A former manager of mine from "brand X MTSO" (in reality, a very dear friend now) got thrown under the bus. She knows how "QBay" does. She is considering an MT or QA job for Focus Infomatics. Focus claims to not offshore, and has offered my friend 8 cpl. That sounds terribly lame wage wise for all that experience.
When I couldn't drink the MQ Kool-Aid anymore, I was making a whopping 9 cpl. Of course, try doing the math on that formula come payday.

Anyone Work For Focus Infomatics?...sm Mar 21, 2010and has been there long enough to be eligible for benefits? I just took a job with them. I will be able to get insurance in 90 days. Focus Dec 02, 2014Recently I had the benefit of hearing someone speak on where our focus lies. It wasn't a talk about employment at all, but I started thinking about it today as I read through the posts on this board.
The jest of the talk was that if you focus on the negative you'll be grouchy, have more pain, be less productive, and generally be miserable. If your focus is on the positive, though, suddenly you're happy in spite of miserable circumstances.
I was hoping with this forum ...
