FYI - - if you are contacted and offered a job by Electronic Dictation of Tulsa or 'EDOT' as they are known - don't take it! The owner of this company seems to be a chauvinstic jerk and his company considered a joke in the midwest area, as are his transcriptionists (if you live in the area, as I do, just ask around.) I have many years of experience and I was let go after a couple of days because his "QA/supervisor" seemed disinterested in training me properly. They cold-call people off the resume board and offer you a job on the spot and expect you to start right away and then expect you to work 7 days a week and when you don't log on, they are calling and emailing you demanding that you do. Plus the pay is much lower than the standard! They do not advertise on the job boards - so just beware if you have posted a resume here on this board and they call you - - DECLINE!

[ In Reply To ..]They are a side company of that equipment sales company. I worked there like a month and made less than $20 & then they fired me & didn't even give me a reason. They didn't have enough work anyways.

[ In Reply To ..]Gee this is a funny post. I have worked for this company for over 2 years and they are wonderful to work for. I have a couple accounts I am on for them. There are few who have been there a while as well. I don't have required hours to work with them as they are flexible. Don't know why you had such a horrible experience, but whatever.

[ In Reply To ..]I have not worked for this company so I cannot comment on the supervisor or the working conditions, however, the hospital where I work had them do some overflow transcription for us and it was beyond horrible. We spent more time correcting their mistakes than we would have spent typing it ourselves. And yes, the owner is everything you've heard and then some. Not a pleasant man at all.

It should have been a red flag when the S/O stated that this client could not find reliable help, that every kept quitting or just not signing on to work when they were supposed to. Turned out it was a Jill-of-all-trades position in a foot doctor practice, including taking x-rays (?) and filling in at the front desk. I have been corrected by QA twice on this one. The first time it was changed to capitals (Electronic Medical Record), so I started typing it that way. However, recently I had it changed to lower case (electronic medical record). Both times the sentence was the same... "Detailed in the electronic medical record." I know that transcriptionists at Veterans' Hospitals have used the EHR for years and it works really well at VA. Now it seems that you hear about it all the time, but every single description is different from every other one. Nobody seems to know anything. I don't see much talk about EMR taking over the MTs job. This has happened to me with my last three companies (small transcription companies) that I have worked for. With my last job we had an account with a large hospital that had a cardiology group we transcribed for. EMR came in and we were immediately out of a job. The family practice I go to is using this. The doctor asks questions and constantly inputs into his PC tablet as we speak. Its not looking good for the MT field. Anyone else worried?
