You see a job listing, and when you click on it and read the description you think, "Hey, I can do that!" You even think or know that you would enjoy doing that kind of work.

Then you register and begin the online application process. It's 29 pages, with every single detail about your jobs for the past 10 years REQUIRED/MANDATORY fields!

You either begin the process with good intentions, but after a while you have a headache and tire of it so give up and either abandon the endeavor or save your info to resume it later.

WHY must they be so freaking lengthy?! If these were the old-fashioned PAPER applications there is NO WAY they would be so long!!

I have run into that as well. Whether I finished or not was based solely on whether I was desperate to find a job or not and I wonder if they do something that to weed out the "lookey loos" and get only those people who are very serious about continuing the process.

You're right though, it's a PITA.

amount of red tape and hoops one must jump through, just to get an application is ponderous enough. Add to that having to pre-test (usually many miles away) in order to apply, or in some cases already be a state employee, and it's too daunting to even want to deal with. I figure, if the application process is that non-user-friendly, imagine what it must be like actually working for the state.

But I also hate the long applications that not only want your birthdate as a mandatory field (isn't that illegal?) but also your SS#, too. Sorry, but they can't have my SSN unless they want to make me a job offer. Which, of course, they never do, because they know I'm over 60.

You fill out the lengthy on-line application AND test (and pass) only to be told they do not hire people who live in your state. Happened to me. Now that's downright rude.

What they have to do is register with the state, pay a fee, and they can hire here. They probably don't because we have some pretty stringent labor laws here, or maybe the fee to register to do business is too high (which I doubt). I now always ask first before applying and/or testing.

I edited a report in which I changed leukoesterase to leuk esterase, however, when I went to upload, spellcheck found "leukoesterase" which no longer was visible in the report (at least not what was on my screen!). I went back in and deleted the whole word, then put it in again as two separate distinct words and that time, spellcheck accepted it. But what worries me is does this occur other times? Are our edits somehow NOT being recognized on the other end? Heaven know ...

I have never had this much trouble before doing my job. I will have 99% on those FIESA and then 1 report will be a C and my QA averages out to a "C" 99.3%. What happens if I never get a score higher than that? Fire me? Cool beans! Need a vacation anyway !!! Seriously, what the hell is this QC crap? How did we get to this point? I have been an MT for 35 years and how did we let our profession turn into the slave labor it has become. This used to be a great job, good pay and well respected. So, I NEED a job! I have one, but we are ALWAYS out of work and I need some supplemental income. Slowly they will transfer accounts, one by one, to India, starting with the easiest accounts/work types first. Soon we here in the US will be left with ONLY the bottom of the barrel indecipherable CRAP........which we will have to send to QA hence our pay will be practically reduced to what they pay for Indians to do the work. A lot of us will finally throw in the towel, not being able to accept minimum wage, which will be fine with them. They just don't want it all happen ...

I rarely get complete mouth extraction reports, and when I do they usually have the same instruments used in them, but I have a burr that I am not familiar with. It sounds like crivet or cribet.
