Diskriter :: applying since they loan computer - MT

Posted: Aug 08, 2011

Thinking of applying since they loan computer... how is the work... how is the sound quality, the line requirements, stability of accounts and ability to make money.  The last one most important, can you make a living there. Thanks for any and all advice.

I have been working for DR for about 4 years. They are a stable company- been around for many years. Yes, they supply the PC (no charge). SR platform is good. Good quality. Acct sups are good. We have good communication (through IM). QA is AWESOME..always positive. It is slow due to summer time but that is everywhere. Good luck with your decision.

With this company, it definitely depends on the account. I worked for them, but had the most horrific experience in all my 20+ years of transcription. Yes, they provided the equipment, but the account/hospital I was assigned to, the supervisors for the account and the QA for the account were terrible! The account specifics were absolutely ridiculous to keep track of. The platform was from the dinosaur ages and was used with a separate "player" to play back the audio. Because it was so outdated an enormous amount of time had to be spent to look up demographics as well as other waste of time information. My account was straight typing, no SR, but it was bad! Please find out about the account you will be getting. If it were the one I was on, I would NOT recommend applying with them. I had gotten to know 2 other people working on my account as well and they hated it, were frustrated, miserable, and cried many times just like I did. So not worth it at all! There also was 5 hours of MANDATORY overtime weekly which really put you into slavery bonds and cut into your real world life a lot. I was fortunate to find a much better job and have been the happiest I have ever been for the last year with another company...it has been light night and day.

So bottom line is, it really just depends. The other person may have had a great account, I just wish I could have as I would still be with them today if I had.

Hope this helps!

I'm going to have to agree - sm

I had a similar experience in my short time there. I hated the platform. The account specifics were ridiculous. But, on a positive note, the people were very nice to work with.

I have no problem with my account and have a fine time with the platform. The SR platform is very good. I easily edit 225+ lines. I am not sure how long ago you guys worked for DR. I know a lot of people very happy here, and yes, the people are super nice!
not that long ago and - sm

The platform is antiquated and fussy and the SR did NOT learn. It was one of the worst ones I have seen. To each their own I guess. Glad you are happy there. It wasn't for me.

They are really really having problems right now. Seriously try somewhere else unless you want to be in a not so good situation at the moment. Cannot say much more. Just be careful.

Things are SLOW right now...not sure what is up. We slow down every summer, but this summer is particularly slow. Not sure what you mean about problems? Are you an MT or behind the scenes?

P.S. The SR platform is fussy for sure.

When I worked there......... - sm

I worked there about a year ago and was hired, everything seemed great, I got off of QA quickly and was always given positive feedback. Then I got laid off because they said there was not enough work on my account and at the same time they were hiring on this board for MTs. I asked them about switching accounts and they said I would have to apply for those specific accounts. I did so, because I liked the job and they didn't even call/email me back. I found that quite rude and odd since I had never had any issues with them. That was just my experience.

I am considering applying to Diskriter.  I just received an email with some questions.  I am wanting to know any info on the criminal background check.  I had some hot checks about 7-10 years ago and paid them off then, but am worried about this background check and also my credit is not that great.  Could someone please clue me in?  Also, do you need to take a picture of your desk/work area to work there?  I have a alcove in my bedroom where I do my work since I live in an apartment.  I ...

I have looked online a bit and the applications usually say something about submitting 2 pay stubs.
