Did Imedx Managment Contact Hospitals About Epic yet? - Getting Testi

Posted: Feb 07, 2015

It was on 02/03/2015 that DH notified many employees of Imedx that EPIC was going to be used on some of Imedx accounts and she/Imedx had no idea of this change.

The question now is: After 5 business days, did she/Imedx bother to call the hospitals and ask them when they will take 100% of the work away and convert to EPIC?

No, she did not. No Imedx did not. They dont care. I think the hospitals announced themselves this week that they do not need to give any notice. WHEN IS IMEDX GOING TO ASK WHEN A-L-L work will be converted to EPIC?

I still say Imedx new full well about this change.

It is what is NOT said by Imedx suits that concerns me.

Imedx/Epic - RA

I personally think the EPIC "disclosure" was a convenient excuse. Could it be that Imedx was trying to send their work overseas, and these facilities weren't having it? Why would a contracted facility NOT give a service a warning about them switching to another method for handling their work? Why wouldn't they say they're either breaking their contract or not renewing it? Wasn't Imedx warned when the MDA account was switched from Escription to Fluency so that the facility could prepare? So why not let Imedx know that they're switching their work to another facility (especially since they've been warning them about this when we had a hard time keeping up with TAT) and/or EPIC. I refuse to believe that a facility who prides itself on their patients' care and getting their reports back in a timely manner would out of the blue take their work away without warning UNLESS they caught Imedx trying to be underhanded in some way. For those of you who like to defend these MTSOs, this is MY opinion, especially since I was affiliated with another company that was taken over by Imedx. The powers that be at Imedx have never been forthcoming with info that affects its MTs, so I don't buy that EPIC excuse. I believe that these new oncology accounts that have popped up at other facilities just might be the one that was taken from Imedx, but of course that's just speculation on my part, as I don't know anyone that works at the facilities to find out for myself. WE NEVER hear anything until AFTER we've been blindsided and discovered things that affect our livelihood, and that's no way to conduct a business, but what do I know?

Put in the contract that they require notice when terminating a contract?

It was on the MD Anderson Web site that they were going to EPIC in 2015 and that was decided in May 2014, so that negates any MTSO wrongdoing causing them to suddenly cancel.

Contract - TTMT

I'm sure that there was a contract. The point that everyone is trying to make is that even if Imedx knew that they the facility was transitioning to EPIC, the MTs were not warned, and Imedx didn't bother to transition us to other accounts to offset the amount of work they were losing. According to their email that was sent, the work suddenly disappeared and they found out that day that the facility switched to EPIC, which is why there are a lot of angry MTs. Also, MD Anderson wasn't the only account that we got the same exact e-mail about. What is the likelihood that 2 large facilities would transition their work on the same exact date, but yet you just added people to the account as backup a couple of days before because they needed people to cover the account?

Look, these hospitals do everything in secret like the MTSOs sm - acuteMLS

[ In Reply To ..]
do. You can put in a contract that the hospital has to give notice, but it essentially means nothing.

So the hospital takes the work away one day==what will the MTSO do, sue? Sure, and after a long while maybe the hospital will settle for a pittance, certainly nothing near what the loss was.

Moderator, please delete everything on your site that refers to Imedx, even this post of mine, it is only the right thing to do. I prefer to be angry and have no where to vent. No one on this board seems to give specifics when they get canned from IMEDX. So my question is this: Can each person who got laid off/fired let us know more details. Were you PT or full time, did they call or did they email, did you have options, or just firing. How many lines did you do per day. Some of us may not be in your situation and you may have been just an employee that was not worth IMEDX's time and they got rid of you while they may keep all the others, or full timers. Why Don't Hospitals . . .
Aug 22, 2014

. . . and larger medical facilities hire disenfranchised MLS to dictate their doctors notes instead of sleep deprived nurses and residents who can't put 2 words together???  I'm not saying all RNs and residents dictate poorly, but in my experience a huge proportion leave a lot to be desired.   What with the doctor and nurse shortage, doesn't it make sense to utilize the MLS' command of medical language?   It would free up the nurses for nursing, the ...

Do You Think MTSOs/hospitals Keep An MT

Golden Opportunity For Hospitals Right Now!

Reputable Accounts/Hospitals
Mar 01, 2014

We just lost one of the most respected hospitals in the country to EPIC.  I have a phobia about working on disreputable accounts -- the kind that hire non-English-speaking physicians who prey on old, senile, demented individuals and do consult after consult after consult.  The physicians speak little to no English and in my opinion it is all an insurance scam that the disreputable hospitals happily participate in.  Now I have no choice but to be a hippocrit and work on these types ...

Why Don't MTSOs And Hospitals Get Together And Have BOS Specifics For All Accounts?
Nov 07, 2009

Have been pondering this a lot lately.  Why would the hospitals and MTSOs not want to all have the same specifics so MTs could concentrate on providing an accurate report based on BOS that would then allow all healthcare providers to recognize a standard for their records?  I am so tired of switching to a new account or my backup account and having to change gears to comply with different specifics.  I have one account now that we are told to literally "might as well thr ...
