Applied about a month ago and didn't go with them, but now I am thinking of maybe taking their offer. Don't really want to be an employee of the Q after reading all the negative vibes on here. Any good news about Transcend? How's the pay per line for Tier 3, etc.

I'd take the Q any day. Stayed with them 7 years and never really had any issues - but that was back from '95 to 2002. :) T - you can keep them but there are those who like them....catch 22.

Oh no. I am supposed to start with them in about a week. This throws up a flag for me, but right now I need a job. No company is perfect.

I have been with Transcend for 6 months and LOVE my job. I have several accounts so that if one runs out of work, which is rarely, then I have secondary accounts for back ups. Did I mention that I LOVE my job?

I have been considering testing for Transcend, since it seems they have acquired the acute care account I just lost as an IC with another company. I have wondered about the minimum line counts and the shifts, days off, holidays, and such. If someone is willing to give some details, that would be great. Considering going from IC to employee is a bit scary, not to mention just changing from one company to another. They might already have staffed my old account (had a couple of weeks), but it did occur to me that I would at least know the dictators if I got that as a primary. Having said that, I am not used to having a strict schedule, just working hard to make TAT, even if that meant working 12 hours a day. It is a different mentality to think I will be cut off after 40 hours. Is that really how they work, even though they don't pay by the hour? I know I sound a bit stupid, but I have never considered working as an employee, since my life is one crisis after another and since IC afforded me the opportunity to work more than 40 hours (which helped me with lines on those days when flow was slow). Can some of you who work for Transcend fill in the gaps for me? Thanks!

I've been with them a couple years now and am more than happy. I used to work for MQ also. It's a no-brainer IMHO to to with Transcend rather than MQ. No comparison in stress levels or communication with management. T is much better managed. This has been my experience.

I too worked for both. Left MQ when they made it too difficult to earn enough with the crappy SR, joined MDI. That was fine until they sold out to Transcend, and now I'm back where I left off with MQ. Transcend is trying to be MQ and I find it disgusting, but where can one go where the big shots don't take advantage of the littles ones?

has enough going for it that it does not need to mimic any other company. From what I can see, they are heads above the other big companies.

I have worked for MQ and hated it from the first week..too hard to get any lines and paychecks were really small..also felt like communication sucked with them..I love Transcend and haven't ran into any problems with them...yet :)

I've stated my work experience with Transcend on here before. I came to Transcend through a merger. Have been with them now for about 1-1/2 years. In all of my time with Transcend I've found them to be very professional and organized. Pay is correct and on time every time, sometimes even early. Communication is excellent. I couldn't ask for a better ROM and TL. Although I wish that my pay was higher for the level of skill that's required for the accounts that I transcribe, they're very competitive in their line rate versus other nationals. Have always found them to be flexible and fair. Decent benefits. MLS experience may vary based on the region that they're in, but I've been very happy in my region.

Is Transcend perfect? No, no company is, but I believe that it would prove to be a good fit for most MT's who want to stay in this industry and desire a professional work experience as they navigate through all of the changes that we're experiencing.

Anyone working or have worked for both and can give input as to how your earnings vary from one to the other. I know accounts, etc. make a difference. I see both companies are hiring and offering about the same wages. WMX recently bought by Nuance so I am sure things will be changing. Wondering if work is more stable with one or the other. You can call every number in the directory and never get anyone who answers a phone. E-mails are not answered or are answered by a short curt, almost very nasty reply. Is Transcend ashamed of what they are doing to their employees? They should be if they aren't. Management has definitely turned the page and have become as rude as possible toward everyone. I have an odd question. If a US trained Medical Transcriptionist works from home (in the U.S.), but then decides to spend 1/2 the year (or more) in a foreign country, is it possible (ethical/legal) to continue working as an MT while in that country? The MT would keep the US address, and bank account. All paychecks would continue to be direct deposited into current U.S. bank account. MT would continue to pay U.S. taxes on all monies earned. I know I am not the only one working 2 jobs or more. Between them I am scheduled 68 hours per week. I have them spread out enough I have "long breaks" in between to fix supper, take a little me time out around the lunch hour and housework kind of gets slighted.
