Advantage Medical Transcription - did anybody see this?? geez

Posted: Sep 09, 2013

on the job seeker's board?  who in their right mind would work for them?  " experienced MTs who are willing to take a lower line rate as a trade-off for the scheduling flexibility, are also welcome to apply."

yeah you will ONLY get a desperate new nieve MT because  honestly anybody would be nuts to apply for that.

Well you know that they say - AM

[ In Reply To ..]
"Pay peanuts, get monkeys." Anybody NAIVE enough to accept this is nuts, you are right about that.

not only that, BUT - LittleOldMT

[ In Reply To ..]
they pay once a month? MESS!

I thought that too but I didn't know if that was typical for - an IC

[ In Reply To ..]
love the whole, i get so many replies I have to throw some away bit. Seems like a LOVELY person to work for!

So much to - H8

[ In Reply To ..]
about this, made me gag just reading it.

Not for me - that is for sure

She sounds REALLY anally retentive.

She is. Been there. And she hires, trains, and spoon feeds - the work - s/m

Holy, cow, that system they created was like THE worst in my 30 years out there - designed for some one person to be in control. No one came out smelling like a rose in that adventure. Caught her in lies as well. They are small time, so are the accounts, at least back then - one owner guy, one IT person guy, and this one idiot (justified by the way she worded her ad) puppeteer...

RE:Advantage - MT50

I sent them a resume about 6 months ago. They had three pages of instructions on what needed to be done in order to test for them, and on top of that, they paid 4 cpl to start going up to 5 or 6 cpl once off QA. Thanks, but no thanks.

forgot to mention - that

[ In Reply To ..]
they also have "punitive QA". I worked for them a while back, but not long, as the account I was on paid 8 cpl at that time, but QA was punitive (meaning if you sent ANYTHING to QA, you lost lines and $$ for it. QA was also very inconsistent, one person telling you one thing, and another telling you another...and if you question them at all.... you are terminated immediately. oh, almost forgot....their system has a built-in "dictionary" which seems to track your keystrokes, where you go, what you view on the internet, etc. It will not allow you to use Words autocorrect features, will not underline grammatical errors, and your own word expander does not work properly with their "system." your medical dictionary will no longer tell you if you have typed an incorrect medical word, as their "dictionary" has taken over your computer. When I brought this to their attention, and disputed some of the QA errors that were placed on me because of it, I was "laid-off" three days later. I heard afterwards that if anybody dares to question anything about their practices or their system, you are gone... just a word to the wise!! btdt.

FOR STRAIGHT TYPING???????????? - lunacy!!!!!

[ In Reply To ..]
yeah right!! they have lost it completely!

hard to figure out - whatwsthat

[ In Reply To ..]
Why ANYONE smart enough to be a MT would even consider working for a company like that. Boggles the mind.

Re: Advantage - Nick

[ In Reply To ..]
Sounds to me like they are delusional or perhaps into magical thinking......

Pay For Editing? - Bah

[ In Reply To ..]
So is the 4 cpl going up to 5 or 6 cpl once off QA for regular transcription or speech recognition editing? 5 or 6 cpl for editing is actually higher pay than most places.

The E-mail stated "straight typing" - hate to see what editing would be. - MT50

Is There An Advantage For The Company To Keep You As An IC?
Apr 26, 2011

I got a job for a company as an IC for the first 60 days, with the promise after that time with achievement of required line counts and 99% QA, I'd be eligible for employee status.  I don't have the discipline to put tax money aside so want the employee status very badly, but here my 60 days came and went, and I didn't make 99% so have to remain an IC another month.  Is there an advantage to the employer not paying your taxes???  I'm really suspicious and think ...

Medical Transcription At Home To Become A Medical Scribe?
Jan 20, 2015

Has anybody left medical transcription at home to become a medical scribe?  I have an opportunity to do so but there aren't any scribes currently in my area and I don't know anyone who has worked as a scribe before.  The scribe position starting pay is almost double what I make as an MT per hour so it is very tempting, I just don't know much about it. ...

Oct 15, 2009

U.S. Transcription Non Medical
Sep 01, 2011

I answered an ad for U.S. Transcription posted on MT Jobs, was asked to test, and within an hour of submitting my test I was offered a job.  After my heart came down from a happy dance at an actual job offer, I found I really have some things to think about before I say yes. This would be for 2nd shift, non-medical transcription at 0.06/cpl for straight transcription, 0.03/cpl if a company provided template is used.  I suppose I need to ask what my expected production would be before ...

New To Medical Transcription
Apr 20, 2012

I'm fairly new to medical transcription. I received my certification in 2010 and was a little discouraged when applying for jobs and they were all looking for experienced agents to work from home. Anyone ever do non-medical transcription? I'm interested to know if you liked it. I tried it for a few days and just decided it wasn't for me. Non-medical Transcription?
Dec 08, 2012

I'm a 2011 MT grad who posted not long ago looking for advice.  While googling MT companies to apply to, I found some non-medical transcription services, namely one that transcribes dialogue from a video for production/entertainment companies.  This site had instructions and a download to take the test.  What the heck, I'm going to take it and see what happens.  Since MT is practically a dead-end career, I've been trying to come up with ther ways to utilize my ...

Thank You Medical Transcription
Aug 23, 2013

I quit a job a dozen years ago to jump into the "Work At Home" dream.  I had little money, was quite naive, worked from dark to dark with absolutely no help from the small MTSO, who later ripped me off $5,000.  BUT, I learned. After my first experience with "running out of work", I just found more work.  I got unusually lucky and found a job and was MTing again in a few days. That gig gave me nearly 10 years of working for another small MTSO.  I got busy and made tons of mon ...
