Virtually all American-based MT companies pay minimum wage or lower by classifying us as "independent contractors," even though we perform the classic duties of employees and have to abide by schedules. The HMO act of 1973 encouraged hospitals to be for-profit, which led to MTs being laid off so hospital administrators could pocket more money by contracting with MTSO's, who, like hospitals, don't give a **** about MTs or patient care, only profit. Work on repealing the HMO Act and "Obamacare" if you want to see any progress for improved MT wages and working conditions.
