IC vs employee labor regulations - KJ

It doesn't matter if you signed a contract and they hired you to be an IC. If they try to control when or how you do the work, then you are an employee, and the IRS and state can penalize them for not paying taxes and insurance on you as an employee. It's not about a contract it's about labor regulations. If they misclassified you as an IC to avoid paying taxes and insurance, the IRS can and is cracking down on their deceit. They can actually get in hot water. Read the labor regulations to qualify as an IC and make them accountable.
