Speaking of KS... - Confused at KS

I'm new at KS. I have no clue about pay, etc., but is it typical to be thoroughly confused with the training? It's done by videos, no real person to explain the platform. I don't know, I'm disappointed by this, and now I'm reading all this pay stuff which is slightly frightening to say the least...
