If you run out of work, you log out... - SM

of the platform and go do something else, read, watch TV, housework, whatever. Then log back in every 1/2 to 1 hour and check for work. If there is work, you do it. If not, you log out again, then repeat the process in another 1/2 to 1 hour. Actually the timing for how often you check would depend on your experience with the MTSO and/or emails from the MTSO or lead alerting you to incoming work (if they do that). That's how it has always worked for me wherever I've worked. Luckily, it didn't happen too often, but I haven't worked for MTSOs for 3 or 4 years. I'm completely retired now and work part-time outside the house (non-MT work) anywhere from 8 to 20 hours per week depending on when I'm needed. I do medical receptionist and medical appointment transportation. Easy peasy work, very little stress.
