I transcribe on the back end of EHR and just want to mention that the text blocks filled in by office workers, including LPNs, RNs and receptionists, leaves a lot to be desired at times. Spelling, medical terminology, capitalization, doctor names, patient names etc., not to mention standard rules of transcription are frequently ignored. It's made medical records a true mess. IMHO that is because there is no substitute for an experienced transcriptionist. So while it is a good thing to learn as many skills as possible, no argument there, that is not a description of a "transcriptionist's" position.
