I was one who suggested the student email me the questions she would like answered. Well, she responded with her email address (not with the name of Janet), but there were no questions. I then responded to her via my email that I, again, would be willing to answer the questions if she would send them. Well, I have heard nothing. Nada. Zippo.
My impression is that this was a phishing scam, something done to garner information about the posters perhaps or some other nefarious reasons. Who knows? Anyway, my advice would be to follow your instincts in cases like this. Thank goodness I used a generic email.
