Need advise - Independent contract projects - Josie

Posted: Jul 30th, 2018 - 11:46 am

I've been an MT for years, but I am thinking of taking on some extra work to assist someone with an educational project.

I wrote up a contract covering a confidentiality agreement and the breakdown of how I would bill for per audio minute and that "payment would be expected for completed work only" at "x" cents/line and the payment expected within "x" number of days after receipt of invoice.

The project is going to be done in multiple stages. This individual wants to submit separate audio files to me as they go along and then insists on me returning the completed transcript back "for their review", at each stage. I was looking to submit one invoice at the end of the entire project, not multiple individual invoices as we go along (but that is the only way, I guess, that I can be assured of being paid for transcription work done). Does an addendum to the original contract need to be made to clarify this?

Any advise?
