When this article first came out, she was quickly exposed as a young woman from a middle class background with a good education who had made a series of stupid choices that put her into the predicament she describes.
She is not the product of poverty. She certainly knows better and knew better then, but still made the stupid choices and then wrapped herself in the cloak of victimhood, claiming it was all the fault of the effects of "poverty" that made her make the poor choices.
She has since capitalized on her poverty "advocacy" to make a significant living as an apologist for people who make stupid, irresponsible choices and then blame others for the mess they make.
