With both jobs, my income per month totals on average $1400 per month. I also get just under $500 per month child support, and $150 per month food stamps. My car is paid for as is my house. I get earned income credit so at tax time I get roughly a $5000 "refund". When I get that money each March, I buy a 1-year phone plan for my smart phone, and I buy basically a year's supply of what I consider to be high-cost/must-have items, i.e. garbage bags, dishwasher and laundry detergents/softeners, etc. If I had to pay rent or a car payment, I could NOT do this...
