You didn’t mention cell phone service, but going with a prepaid service such as Tracfone is a huge cost savings compared to a contact with one of the big carriers. Making meals in the crock pot, washing your car yourself as opposed to using the automatic car wash, Red Box movie rentals for $1.50 (or getting free videos from the library), dropping your landline, making your own coffee drinks as opposed to a $5 latte from Starbucks, the list could go on and on. Some of the things you mentioned are moot points for many of us, Gym memberships are luxuries that many people never had, as well as alcohol. If you were affording those on your MT salary you were doing okay.
