I think it comes down to TAT and EMHS's cost. - SleepyMT Posted: Nov 27th, 2017 - 3:01 pm In Reply to: MTSO - AHD MT
I'm thinking the hospital sees it like this...
Right now their TAT for stuff with Alliance contract is, what, 12 hours? And for that they were paying Alliance quite the premium. With MModal and VR, the TAT will be down to mere minutes. The sooner those reports get done, the quicker the claim can be filed with insurance companies, and the faster the hospital will get paid.
Mind you, this is a system that employs a ridiculously high rate of H1B visa physicians who also work for ridiculously low pay (considering) because Maine is podunk and has a high elderly population and a high amount of uninsured/under insured/unemployed/poverty-level residents. If the physicians are any good, they will split Maine for greener pastures as soon as they can. The ones that stay are usually the specialists and their salary goes far up here and they like the quiet lifestyle.
This hospital system pinches pennies wherever it can and puts all its resources into where the money is. Like I said before..babies and cancer, and also heart surgery for the old folks on Medicare that will pay.
