It is likely at least some transcriptionists will be let go but how many are kept will depend on the administration. Some facilities will force all physicians to use it exclusively and some will allow a hybrid.
The hospital system where my daughter receives care for her diabetes uses EPIC. At the end of the clinic visit, we receive a print-out with her vitals, lab tests, follow-up, meds, etc. Whoever used to type that is no longer needed. That same hospital does still use transcriptionists for the acute care work.
A big account that I used to work on went over to EPIC completely. There was a big surge of work for about 6 weeks while doctors took care of their backlog and then, BOOM, nothing. It took the supervisors by surprise too.
