I tried through Market Place but forced to - take employer plan

Posted: Feb 5th, 2017 - 8:48 pm In Reply to: Trying to figure out my options - CEMT

If your employer offers an "affordable" option (Google the government/market place's definition of affordable coverage...it's a percentage of your income), then you are not eligible for a Market Place plan." Your option is chosing from what your employer offers or being uninsured. Your children may qualify for Medicaid though. I'm considering dropping to PT (and getting a second PT job or going IC so I can get a much better and much cheaper plan than what I have through my employer. As far as the preexisting conditions, I'm pretty sure that was part of the ACA, coverage can no longer be denied for preexisting conditions.
