I would like to change from full time to a part time position; however, I noticed in the employee handbook that I have to make the request for approval 30 days beforehand. I'm moving to a full time position with another job that has just opened up and I don't want to lose that chance because I have to wait 30 days for approval from MM.
My questions is: Will they make the change near-immediate if I ask nicely, or are they pretty rigid with the 30-day rule?
I supposed I can threaten to quit if I can't go part time before the 30 days, but I'd like to avoid any threats if I can as I feel that I'm in good standing with my HDSM.
Also, what happens to my left over PTO? Can I just claim that in a check, or do I have to use it up before I go PT or its gone?
