You are not made to "sit there" and wait for work without being paid. You are paid for the 6 minutes of "work availability time" while you wait for a job to come in and at the end of the 6 minutes you are released from your shift, but then you are given options of how to get in the hours of the rest of your shift whether you do make up time that same day, make up time later in the week with shifts claimed from the swap board or whether you take PTO, etc.

Most of us wait it out so to speak sitting there waiting for the jobs to come trickling in that same day because we know the next day is no guarantee that work will be abundant, therefore, we can sit there for 12 hours to get 8 hours of work in, but to MModal, they aren't breaking any labor laws, they are paying that 6 minute work availability, we are the ones that have to choose how to make up the time, they aren't "forcing" us to sit there for that time, but again, we choose to because we have to get in the entirety of our shifts or suffer the consequences if we don't. And that's what is unfair. Work is little to nonexistent and causes a lot of stress in wondering if you'll make your hours on any given day.

Hope this makes sense.
