My PC actually gave me this little trick:
There is some glitch with the new upgrade with the MRN field being the top field and the default search box. When you hit Ctrl-S and you get that famous error, use the down arrow to go to the next field, then arrow back up to the MRN field and hit Ctrl-S again. This time the search should work like it is supposed to.
Tech is famous for telling you that you are the only one having these problems but trust me they know it is a problem with the latest upgrade.
