you do not have to track your hours or present a fixed schedule to them. Tell them if you do, they'll have to change your status to employee and start withholding taxes, etc. This ACA audit of employers counts employees only for reasons of compliance with ACA. Maybe they don't understand that ICs don't need to be counted, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they are trying to pass you off as an employee in order to not get in trouble with the IRS for misclassifying you.
