She really does not have a choice, it is company policy. I would call her on it.
Purpose: To provide guidelines for administering unscheduled downtime compensation to ensure allHealthcare Documentation Specialists (HDS) and Sr. Healthcare Documentation Analysts(Sr. HDA) are compensated for all hours worked and in a controlled, consistent and auditable manner.
Definition: Downtime Pay: Compensation paid when an Employee is unable to process production work due to unscheduled technical issues.
*MModal Technical Downtime: Unscheduled downtime of a M*Modal or client based platform,including server, telephone internet or power outages within the M*Modal or client facility datacenters resulting in the inability to process production work. (Scheduled downtime, i.e., a systemupgrade is not eligible for downtime pay. Schedule adjustments should be made in advance of thedowntime.
Employee Technical Downtime: Unscheduled downtime related to issues with an employee’s M*Modal owned computer. (Scheduled downtime is not eligible for downtime pay. Scheduleadjustments should be made in advance of downtime.) Technical downtime does not includedowntime related to non-work issues with an employee’s personal computer, personal telephone,internet or power outages.
MQ Technical Downtime: 8 hours
Employee Technical Downtime: 24 hours
Limited to Employee’s scheduled work hours remaining for the day the incident occurred plus anyscheduled hours in the next two consecutive calendar days following the incident.
