I'm feeling sad for all of you under so much pressure...I left MT about a year ago and haven't looked back. :(
My mom is 94-y-o and in a nursing home with dementia, but she still makes me laugh:
Me: "I have a serious question for you, mom."
Her: "What's that?"
Me: "Will you be my Valentine this year?"
Her: "Well, sure!"
Me: "Do you have any question for ME?"
Her: "What do you mean?"
Me: "Wouldn't you like me to be YOUR Valentine?"
Her: "Nah. I can do better."
Another:
I had been visiting with her for about 3 hours...
Me: "Is it OK with you if I leave now so I can go home and make my dinner?"
Her: "Can't you stay longer? You've only been here for 15 minutes!"
Me: "Mom, I've been here for THREE HOURS!!" (Grrrr)
Her: "Well, that may very well be the case, but I've only been LISTENING to you for 15 minutes."
LOL-- these still make me laugh.
