I don't think it matters if it's a coding job another job. Jail time is not going to look good. Questions like that are asked on job applications and show up on background checks. Sorry to be harsh, but probation issues might indicate that you are not going to be a dependable employee. My guess is that others with clean records will be chosen first but of course Linda would know.
