I only used "transcription headphones" when they came with - a transcription unit like a C-phone.

Otherwise, I've used many different brands purchased from Radio Shack, Best Buy, Amazon, etc. I do recommend a USB headphone rather than the little audio jack because the sound quality is almost always better.
