We all know that a lot of companies simply do not advertise an actual pay rate, but will at best mention "competitive" line rates, or some such rhetoric. There is a company advertising here that pays .06 cpl for a "combination" of straight and speech, which initially sounds like it would balance out the current industry standard of 8/4. However, the work is not configured separately. There is only one rate, and it does not include spaces, so it is actually more like .045 cpl at best. The VR is bad, and the work is usually at least 75% straight typing. There are many shifts that have only one or two VR charts, possibly included to justify the "combination" rate," so an 8-hour shift of straight typing could end up earning .045 cpl. I know you can't "make" the companies pay us what we are worth, and though this new website guideline is very much appreciated, it seems the MTSOs will always find a way to exploit us. Still, thank you so much for your continuing efforts to validate who we are and what we do.
