They are not all the same and there are often huge disparities in pay between companies. Honestly, I won't apply for jobs that can't be honest and include their rate of pay in a job ad. I'm not going to spend 3-4 hours testing online and jumping through hoops if a company doesn't tell me FIRST what they're paying.
