I am always looking for something to improve sound quality- especially something with an equalizer for bass/ treble. If what you are trying does not work, consider an external Creative SoundBlaster. It comes with software with equalizer settings. The default sound program that comes with Windows is horrible. I could not do this job if that is all I had to use.
